I'm certain she would win, hands down. Both his comments and leering at her rear while she walked away would be sufficient grounds.
This is more BS. Yes it is free speech and it did happen at the Capitol steps (as opposed to AOC’s residence or somewhere else she might have been on her personal time), but the guy was an idiot. I sure as heck don’t support AOC politically but she, or no one else, should not be subjected to those personal and sexist attacks whether it violates free speech or not. At the same time, I hope she learns not to support that type of behavior towards others who have opposing political views, as she has in the past. Situations like that can quickly escalate and lead to something much worse than AOC threatening to “deck” a heckler.
Honestly, It is. I believe he did it for non sexual reasons, but I have fired two people in the last year for less. (And they deserved it btw). Like this dude, They didnt commit a crime, but they forfeited their right to work for me.
We have to do better at humanizing people. I cant stand her politics. She makes Karen's and Linda's look calm. But my 18 year old is your typical liberal(ish) freshman and if some numbnuts said anything like that to her, I might spend the night in a cell. Same goes for the other side. The hate is out of control.
I think this would certainly meet most folks' test for sexual harassment, particularly if said to their daughter or wife. But I'm not aware of a civil cause of action for sexual harassment outside of the employment context - assuming the language falls short of a sexual threat or assault, which would also be crimes. Practically, leering at and yelling about a woman's butt might earn you a knuckle sandwich but probably not a lawsuit. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
wait does this guy work for the government or something? I thought he was just some random dude on the street
I think this was Alex Stein - the same troll that confronted Crenshaw and which Ted Cruz' people had removed from an event - or at least out of Cruz' face.
No idea. Just saying that sexual harassment existed here. If he worked for most people, this video would get him fired. No way I could let that guy in my building and have the women here be OK with it. What he did was legal... But foolish. His 15 minutes will last him much longer than he hopes.
Tilly, you're completely right. AOC just happened to enable such behavior on SCOTUS justices, so I'm not going to defend her for getting a taste of her own medicine. I wouldn't do it, I think it's disgusting. But I'm not stopping anybody from fighting fire with fire and giving her exactly the sort of behavior she enabled.
At least it is fact that there was no racism involved, since a clever fellow like this would know tamales are a traditional mesoamerican (Mexican, really) dish while AOC has no connection to another country, and even PR is more of a pasteles place. No way he’d not have a firm grasp on all that and throw that comment out there thinking he was being sly.
I'm pretty sure I've seen this guy before. I think he's a provocateur. He gets off on negative attention. He's a real piece of work, but you think people yelling at him or chastizing him is going to stop him, that's exactly what he's looking for. Even without considering this video, I don't think he's a good person. Turns out the right has some pretty bad people. I'm just done standing in between them and the other side in cases where they are just giving the other side the same treatment they've repeatedly called for and enabled.
You right wingers keep embarrassing yourselves and its really sad to see we have adults who can't see the difference between protesting an abhorrent decision to revoke an individual's autonomy over a medical procedure vs a jackass sexual harassing someone on the internet for internet points.
all right I think I have it. Workplace sexual harassment-illegal and fireable. On the street sexual harassing-legal but boneheaded and unadviseable.
