much of the same staff. But what is the point? That Mario’s staff lost twice to a top ten team? There is shame in that? That Miami should get beat by a top ten Clemson on the road? Or that they should lose to a top 20 SEC team on the road? If they lose both, that would make them possibly 10-2 vs a horrible schedule. Still a great season. I’m hoping they lose to other ACC teams as prior Canes teams have done but we cannot rely on another team losing to garbage ACC teams to help our recruiting. on a normal year Miami doesn’t play Clemson nor Texas a and M so…with the talent they are acquiring they will heads and shoulders be talent wise over every ACC team but Clemson and regularly win 10 games or more. That helps keep the talent influx rolling. besides, many on this site- including me - argues that results on the field in year 1 has no bearing on the next years recruiting class. We make this argument with BN and Florida - that if we have an average year it won’t matter. The same argument should apply to Miami. They may finish top 5 in recruiting this year and if they fall apart on the field, it won’t impact their next class. Just like Kirby smart and his 7-5 year one didn’t negatively impact their top 3 class the next year. Hell, he lost to Vandy at home and still had a top 3 class. most gator fans said Kirby couldn’t coach and only recruit. But…with the amount of talent he acquired over several seasons, even if he can’t coach it didn’t matter with that much talent. Acquiring talent at Miami with that easy ACC conference (unlike Georgia in the sec)…mario doesn’t even need to be a good coach to make the playoffs. if the argument is That it doesn’t matter how much talent Mario acquires he will always lose some games he isn’t supposed to…that would be nice but not sure how it helps us at all.
right now there are 401 kids who are listed as composite 4*’s, i dont believe every one of them are getting NIL deals
You can’t build a championship roster on the e few unicorns that aren’t taking the cash. Yes, all 400 have money offers out there. Some legal, some not but paid is paid. Why would a kid play for free.
Bear in mind there are all levels of deals. It may not be some big deal, but I think everyone will get something. Remember Napier's goal is to have every player on our roster get an NIL amount.
In reality , every single power 5 program will have kids getting NIL. With about 60 power 5 teams, that would mean on average, each team would be paying 8-9 4-5 star kids each recruiting class IF all those 400 4-5 stars were spread evenly amongst schools. We know they are not. But I lean more towards the argument that they will all get paid - all 5 stars will get something. All 4 stars will be offered something and or earn it once on campus. Any kid can earn an NIL regardless of ranking with performance. Trask could’ve made bank to return one more year and he was a 2 star. I would assume teams likeUCF and Cincy and SMU will also be paying offering NIL so man, I’d have to believe all 4 stars will get some $.
Yeah.....UF will too I'm sure. Give every guy a $20k deal, for $2 million you cover 100 guys. I think Napier would like to go higher than that, have to see what our funds look like
When will we stop hearing people post about schools not following the rules and paying “questionable NIL payments how many times will it have to be posted that UF WILL NOT PLAY THAT GAME if we are mediocre than that’s what we are where this goes we don’t know yet maybe the playing field will level maybe NIL will change but for now this is the way UF has chosen to do their recruiting NIL will be for players on the roster get over it nothing you post will change UF’s approach I am so tired of hearing it . If your one of those who think these top recruiting schools are not skirting the rules and we are just getting out recruited well you can believe that but it’s pretty clear, allot not all but allot of these battles are won with the checkbook nothing else
Seems a few choose their school first and trust they'll get a fair NIL deal second (5-10%?). Some go 50/50 money and school without playing games, and are smart enough to take less for the best one (15%?) Many more families get dollar signs in their eyes and scum like Ruiz in their ears, and look for the higher offer and cash advance (45-50%?). And finally the straight up bidding families that play games and put schools against each other with offers, real or not (30%?). The higher ranked tend to be further down the list. We already know where our policies let us compete more, but hopefully we can get some more top guys that are not looking for crazy money and are ok with us following rules.
I would lean toward them having a better shot against Clemson if Clemson's qb situation is not figured out. There is an established team with aTm, while Mario picks up the same squad as last year's Miami with a meh group in the portal for '22 and some exciting '22 recruits that aren't good enough to take over a game against an aTm or Clemson (and honestly are not as good as what aTm got in true freshmen). Mario has not shown anywhere he has gone that the team shoots from nothing to juggernauts in one year. He had modest gains on the field in first two years with Oregon and then had his best year in the third year. All of that is against competition in a conference that was about as low as it has ever been. I'm not a Jimbo believer but am even less so of Mario.
Some good points. I was solely replying to his 11-1 comment. I was just incredulous of Super Mario beating Clemson or aTm in his first year with kids who aren't his.
