IMO, best for the country and also the Republican party to indict Trump. indictment not so good for the Democrats
since the Democrats control the Senate, House and DOJ in effect they control the indictment. im thinking they won't do it.

    Play it out for me..
Perp walk and surrender to military?
    Lynching?
    Hostage situation?
    ????

And know that there were armed men ready to empty clips if certain barriers were breached that would have changed the reality for the mob when they had to be the next one thru the door. How many do you think the SS would have killed before they lost Pence? He wasnt leaving. I just don’t see that many willing to take a bullet in that treasonous crowd. Jmo

It would have gotten ugly had that mob gotten their hands on any of them. Granted the secret service would have riddled them with lead if they went after Pence (at least one would hope so). The others? They didn't break in there to exchange niceties and take instagram pics with members of congress, especially dems and those they considered RINOS.

I see your point. But, they did come with zipties to bind hostages. Who knows what they would have done had they caught Pelosi or Pence.

A lot of them would have been shot before that happened and I don’t think they would have pressed on over dead bodies

You're probably right. Many of the thugs who like to play big bad militia boys would probably run and hide if confronted by people shooting at them. But it would only take a couple armed psychos to escalate things.

The last one to the table gets the book thrown at him. I guess Trump didn't learn that at Wharton Business School.

That's a good point, but we don't know what the committee has. The blunder came in not having republicans on the committee. At least Trump would have inside information as to what direction the committee is heading and what documents and evidence they are planning to present.

Trial by ambush has to be the worst scenario for someone who already appears guilty to the general public. When you don't know what the other side has, you double the risk of jeopardy by raising frivolous, palpably perjurious, and fraudulent defenses to the claim.

Even if criminal charges are not brought by DOJ, by the time this committee finishes stringing together unrefuted testimony from scores of witnesses, they will make Trump a virus for any candidate running in November supporting his power-drunk claim of fraud.

I wonder why democrats are not pushing the angle that here is the most powerful politician in the world predicting a coup attempt against him TWO YEARS before it allegedly occurred. And with all of his resources, authority, and almost half the voting population behind him, he was totally inept in stopping it. The conclusion then would be why America would want a "leader" who while in power for two years, could not even protect himself from being bamboozled let alone the American people?

Either the fraud claim was a ruse to stay in power or we have a weak incompetent who knew that the bullets were going to be fired at him two years before and couldn't stop his demise. The democrats need to let him know it's either one way or the other.

He is essentially admitting that the democrats outsmarted him. And although we all know it doesn't take much to do that, wouldn't Americans be better off with a party that is capable of outmaneuvering another party that is in power and in a position presumably to prevent the manipulation of the vote outcome?

Biden had an opportunity, with the house and Senate on his team, to confirm your idea. Unfortunately, he is messing this country up so badly with his mismanagement, that he is actually making Trump's tenure look somewhat competent. If you don't get the abortion wave in November, the Democrats are going to get smoked in this upcoming election.

Bill Press: January 6 Hearings: Only one possible take-away

Let’s cut to the chase. There were no “five take-aways” from this week’s hearing on Jan. 12. Nor from the other six hearings. There’s only one possible take-away from all seven hearings so far: Donald Trump should be wearing an orange jumpsuit. Or, at the very least, he should have already been charged with federal crimes.

Granted, the committee’s not a federal grand jury. Members of Congress are not federal prosecutors. Congressional hearings are not a criminal trial. But these hearings are, in effect, the preview of a federal trial, laying out the crimes for which Donald Trump should be charged. And the list is long. The evidence so far is overwhelming.

There is no question that democrats are slated to take a hit in November, but they are snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat by exposing that the alternative to 7.00 a gallon gas is fascism. Because that is what we are going to get with these reich winged conservatives

This is a bit humorous. A J6'er is trying to get a change of venue to a more friendly judge:

just listen to the testimony of the cop pulled into the mob (includes video). And that was someone they didn’t want. Yes if they got hold of pence it would have been bad.

I don’t think the mob would have been able to get Pence without an exchange of gunfire with secret service, and I rather agree the insurrectionists would scurry like roaches rather than engage in any sort of gun battle. As soon as one of them went down it would have been all over.

But this doesn’t preclude the possibility Pence couldn’t have been hit by a stray bullet if he got caught up in chaos, I just don’t believe the nutters could have “taken” him as a hostage.

I think the members of Congress on the other hand would have been much more vulnerable to assorted violence if the mob got to them.

It’s fortunate we didn’t have to test this theory, as the mob never saw Pence and were mostly misdirected away from members of Congress.
