This is a point that I have made several times around here. Republicans have come to expect that they should be treated less seriously than Democrats.

There is some level of circular causation. The press is made up of mostly Democrats. In an attempt to be even handed, it requires press people to essentially cover both sides claims as if they are equal, even if the Republican claim is less serious on an issue. As such, it incentives people on that side to worry less about being serious. Meanwhile, if a Democrat makes ridiculous claims, they are punished by the media, who can use it, if anything, as an attempt to be more even handed. That is how you end up with Republicans claiming that Democrats run pedophile sex rings out of pizza restaurants. Meanwhile, the only person accusing Republicans as a whole of giant sex-based conspiracies is...a Republican congressman.

This hearing is essential to precede the hearing on the response to the riot. First have to establish the ignition of the mob. And then the response. Which, together, shows his intent.

I thought the four closing statements were powerful. I'll post clips as I find them.

The potential witness tampering by trump is going to be interesting.

I thought today's hearing showed the extent of Donald Trump's betrayal of his oath of office and of the country. That anyone could defend, or, indeed, again vote for, that man is truly beyond my comprehension. What has happened to the country I fought for and have loved for over 78 years?

I hope DOJ indictes Donald J. Trump for obstruction of justice, and includes as many counts still within the statute of limitations.

Very, very powerful. Their vision of the nobility of America is foreign to Trump and his followers.

Doing what one thinks is right at the time makes it actually right for all time?

And I always thought "seemed like a good idea at the time" was a comedic statement that doesn't actually clear the person of wrongdoing. Now it's a legal argument for the GOP.

Explain that to the millions of Trumpers who STILL believe Trump's BS about a stolen election.

The most powerful information is the Kremer-Lindell evidence: he knew that Trump would ad lib sending the mob to the Capital to make that look unplanned. And Trump’s unsent tweet announcing it. Remember too that there was testimony that the march to the capital was deleted from his draft speeches. And he knew that people who didn’t come trough the metal detectors were armed and weren’t there to hurt him.

And, as usual, the connections between the seditious groups and Trump are through Roger Stone and Mike Flynn.
