The vaccines do not seem to prevent infection anymore but they give the immune system a “heads up” to know how to respond to infection. The 4th shot (second booster) did not prevent me from getting infected, but one will never really know of it helped prevent severe illness.

Look at all of those multi dose vaccines. More than one shot is not a new concept...

Sure they have. They constantly gripe about multiple doses needed as if its an unheard of thing. Had a friend just the other day ranting about vaccines and 1 shot for polio....

No. They point out we are on the 4th dose for some and the drug does not slow or prevent the disease it is designed to fight like the other drugs with multiple doses. Different drugs. Different diseases has been the point all along. But feel free to take as many jabs as you feel necessary. Most see that these drugs are archaic now as they were designed for a spike protein that is long gone…

hopefully no one pays attention to your posts. I keep thinking of the potential of vaccine deniers laying in icu, realizing what a mistake they made by not getting the vax. Just something to think about as you continue to promote false info.

ICUs Are Filled With Covid — And Regret

“If I would have known six months ago that this could be possible, this would have been a no-brainer,” said the 45-year-old father of six, who has been in critical condition with covid-19 for weeks.

No vaccine has ever been developed to prevent infection. They are designed to prevent disease/severe disease. All of this would have gone over much better if Americans were not so scientifically challenged and actually understood what vaccines were and what they were designed to do.

Your fear mongering has lost its ability to work. The data shows that this disease is not that dangerous to most. And it shows that these drugs are archaic. Your body is completely capable of handing Covid if you get it. The real anger should be that we do not have new generation versions of the drugs for the high risk groups. Outside of that…there is no reason to take the archaic version now. But I support your ability to take as many jabs as you wish.

Good information. However the extended group is greater than 3 months. Is there any evidence pertaining to greater than 6 months or longer? I’m not sure I’d conclude a 4th dose isn’t beneficial, especially for more vunerable age groups longer term since we are now more than 6 months out from the third dose.

You cannot vaccinate people every 3, especially against variants that are learning to evade our neutralizing antibody response. We would be much better served by using something like Evusheld, which has now been approved for treatments every 6 months in those who are immunocompromised.

The problem is that the empirical data continues to show that you remain wrong, as always. Let's look at the Alberta data, for example. They age stratify the results and show hospitalization rates and death rates by age group. For every single age group, 2 doses of vaccine cut your risk and a third dose cuts it further. Every single age group.

    COVID-19 Alberta statistics

But that doesn't fit your catch phrase level narrative.

What about 6 months for more vulnerable ? I’d agree 3 months is overkill. I’m just curious what the long term efficacy against hospitalization is beyond 6 months. Hospitalization Efficacy beyond 3 months is good news but not at all unexpected given prior data.

most people i know got the 3rd dose August to September 21. Those who received the 4th dose i believe it was april / may. my wife and i, after consultation with our doc, decided to wait for the updated vaccine to come out. it seems that there wasnt much of a difference in severity for covid between those who had the 3rd shot and those who had the 4th.

Just a note. My community is young senior. most in their 60's, 1600 homes. I can say almost everyone has been vaccinated. It has to be well over 95%. The other interesting information is that I would guess more people in my community have gotten covid in the last 2 months than the previous period jan 20 to april 22. It's really unbelievable how fast its spreading. I also continue to work part time and i was chatting with a colleague in Denmark on Friday, she told me she just tested positive (1st time) and she also told me it's spreading like crazy in Europe. IMO, everyone will get it at some point.. Hopefully it's when you're home and not travelling.

Yes, omicron was able to elude vaccines much better than previous strains. And because it was so transmissible, there was a decreased effectiveness of vaccines against infection. Yet the rate of infection for vaxxed was still half that of unvaxxed, while unvaxxed had 10x the death rate of vaxxed. Those numbers are significant and demonstrate that vaccines protected large numbers of people, especially from being hospitalized and/or dying. That's not coincidence, that's vaccines protecting people.

Like I said, your beliefs, anyone's belief, are irrelevant because this isn't a matter of belief. It's a matter of infectiious disease science. Viruses don't care whether you believe they exist or that covid is nothing more than a flu. Our anecdotal experiences don't matter either since anecdotes cannot tell us about the bigger picture. Only systematically collected & measured data can provide the necessary information.

Everywhere now. Very high RO rate. Higher than measles. Maybe now we will get to a level of herd immunity. Can’t avoid it.

B4 and B5 are game changers. I know too many people that are boosted once or twice who have now gotten COVID, many for the first time. Maybe we are all outliers. But I doubt it. This virus has mutated to avoid the vaccines now. The vaccines still provide protection against serious illness.
