Hearing Bateman is having trouble on the recruiting trail. Not relating well to kids. They don’t feel the relationship or closeness they have with other team’s LB coaches. Was let go at UNC. This may have been a mistake hire. I’m worried about TE coach and ILB coaches recruiting and relationship building skills on trail currently. Feedback from HS recruits not positive yet. Will see what Billy does as CEO, but these could be opportunities to upgrade staff/team in the future. Every manager makes hiring mistakes, but best managers correct those mistakes quickly rather than having an ineffective person remain employed for several years.

And play as a team. You think the players already there are going to like it when some hot shot freshman come in with all this $$$, and gel? There is going to be a lot of team chemistry issues that these 18-21 year olds aren’t going to be able to handle.

What I meant was recruiting is just not fun to follow now, at all. A commit will decommit when money is offered... Still live the Gators and new staff, just not fun anymore with this "amateur" free agency. No high school player should be offered a dollar... Just utterly ridiculous that this is where we are at currently. I am all for the Tebows. And Harvin etc making money when they are at the school and bringing us money, it's only fair. But a hs kid not even on campus getting what may be better than an NFL rookie contract is just insane and will destroy what is left of competitiveness in college football.

Just think of it as nfl on a lesser monetary scale. They are all going to get paid and of course the starters will cost more but the first rounders are a risk that will be necessary in order to win. The money will sort of settle but more like mlb with no cap, there will be the haves and have nots. Only difference is, a lesser team can win in baseball, not so much in football. Buying top talent in football is absolutely necessary.

You have to acquire them first then the coach can give it a shot.

How are rookies handled in tge nfl? Is it just money?

There’s a difference between turning heads and making the amount of money the sole determinant for where you go to college and play football. Throughout my career I declined offers for more money because I had value for who I was working with and where I was doing it. Sure money matters, but the folks for whom it’s the only thing that matters can stay the hell away from UF

They haven’t stockpiled one side of the ball just yet. Looks like they are making a run at it but they aren’t that talented just yet.

There are a handful like Brady that take less to better the talent around them but mostly just guys like Rodgers that take everything they can get. I’d take less to win but that’s just me. If our payroll is 50% of the top teams, we will need a pile of em to have enough talent to win a title. It’s almost impossible for a non playoff type team to beat Bama. That means top 5 roster or almost no chance.

And when the coach shows he is not a good developer of talent and not that great of a game day coach? I guess they will hit the portal..Mark Richt could get the talent..but....how many NCs did he win at uga?

What makes you think Ruiz won’t open the checkbook for the kids who are producing?

There’s a lot of wishful thinking going on around here. If Miami keeps recruiting at this pace they’ll be a problem, regardless of how good of a gameday coach their head coach is. Hopefully we can keep pace, there’s still a long way to NSD.

Right? Why would anyone assume AR isn’t getting paid more than his hs counterpart?
