10 year old rape victim can't get abortion in Ohio

That's easy. We want our kids to have the freedom to safely attend school or a parade without being blown to bits by military weapons. To do that, we want to control those guns.

 

The people that support it literally call it 'gun control' man!

 

What the? Abortion will result in more unwanted children? What? Get some more sleep, you're delirious.

 

And I want fetuses to have the freedom to not get killed because they're inconvenient to their mother. To do that, we want to restrict abortion.

 

"Inconvenient to the mother". Because there aren't any COUPLES making that decision? Because there aren't any married men, particularly those in power, getting their side pieces abortions so they don't get caught. Because it's Inconvenient to not want to die. It's Inconvenient to worry about being beaten or killed for "getting" pregnant.

The number one killer of pregnant women is Homicide.

When someone says women get abortions because of "Inconvenience" versus all the other reasons out there it smacks of, what else, judgement and belittling. Which is why people will keep getting fired up.

It has nothing to do with the fetus or God or love or anything else. And everything to do with judgement, control, hatred, and vanity.

You and those who think like you will only blame & not work. Then blame "the other side" for not wanting to compromise.

That's at least 86% of abortions occurring because having a baby would be inconvenient, and that is assuming the entire "other" 6% involve reasons that exceed mere inconvenience, in other words, I'm being generous.

 

And I addressed the elective reasons by my list. Then reminded you that rape & medical needed exceptions and you got upset.

Btw the vasectomy part? Forgot - women of color, Native women, Hispanic women....decades of having forced sterilization (jails, ICE, etc). At least vasectomies are reversible.

You expect rape victims btw to put their faith in a system that gave men like that swimmer a reduced sentence for rape because his dad wrote that his son's life shouldn't be ruined over "20 minutes of fun"? Forget his name but he was raping an unconscious woman behind a dumpster and only got busted when spotted.

Had she gotten pregnant from that, what then? How would she prove rape? So gray area again, and more garbage about convenience.

Put it in perspective. If I lived in Texas or another ban state, the bulks of my meds would be illegal and I'd be dead in a few months. I DONT EVEN HAVE A UTERUS. But I'm in the age range.

I cant reason with a side that thinks that ectopic pregnancies are reimplantable in the uterus.

 

I didn't get upset, I just called you out because you used the exception to define the rule, and you're doing it again here.

The typical abortion case is based on convenience, not rape or life of the mother. I pointed that out and YOU got upset.

As to whether women should put faith in the American system. Find me a better one. Anybody can cherry pick cases where people who did terrible things get off. Rape cases are tough. There is rarely damning evidence proving consent or lack thereof one way or another. Nobody deserves to get raped and there should be more serious sentencing for rape cases. But America is not an oppressive country towards women. It just isn't. This may be the best place to be a woman in human history.

Your answer to forced sterilization, which you yourself think is a horrible atrocity (and I agree) is to have forced sterilization for men because women had to go through it.

 

I never posted in this thread because if true I thought this was tragic and although I am anti RvW agreed that this should have never happened.

Now I think this thread maybe should be brought back to the top. Can anybody bring up verification that it actually happened?

Seems this may be a copy story from Brazil where there is a 10 year old rape victim that is pregnant and the judge denied her an abortion came out a day before the Ohio story

I'm profoundly against abortion restrictions that pose a threat to a woman's health/life, and lack of exemptions for rape and incest.

 

While I have little doubt that those numbers are accurate, keep in mind that 92.7% of all abortions are performed prior to the 13th week of pregnancy and less than one percent are performed after the 20th week.

Two factors to keep in mind. First, contraceptives are not fool proof, failure happen and secondly the most effective method for reducing unwanted pregnancies is through easy access to contraceptives and comprehensive sex education, both of which are opposed by a significant segment of the proflife community, a very large percentage of whom have a puritanical view of sex and believe that sexual relations should be limited to marriage and even then only for procreation.

As I mentioned in previous posts, I have no problem with restrictions on abortion later pregnancy even as early as the 15th week provided that there is a strong exception for medical necessity (life or health of the mother and/or serious fetal abnormalities) including qualified immunity for doctors who perform the procedure. If the state alleges that an abortion performed after the cutoff period is not based on medical necessity the burden should be on the state not the physician to prove that was there was not a legitimate medical reason to perform the procedure.
