No, as long as it stays in the 90s she will continue to battle it at home.

She is young. Doctor told me if I got that low to go to the hospital. But I am in my 60s. Never got to that thankfully

The unreported Covid cases at this point are off the charts. Most are not testing at this point. If someone does a home test and pops positive. They are likely not going to a doctor at this point. Covid has been rampant. It is not that severe right now thankfully. We know the groups that need to be more careful. We know what to do if we get it.

For those who refuse to move on…it is time to join the rest of us.

    You can do it! :)

I just had COVID. Because I was out and about. I am very likely now immune to B5. I must have had that variant since I got jabbed 5 and a half weeks before I got sick and it is the overwhelmingly dominant variant. As for severity, B4 and B5 are more severe than the early Omicron variants, as reflected by the link I posted. For me, it was a miserable 4 days (the worst part was the lethargy; but I had what would be considered mild) and then I had throat irritation and some phlegm. In those 4 days, i had chills over 3 days but no fever. It was weird; I was just extra cold in air conditioning. The CDC protocols no longer require a negative test to stop isolating. It is 5 days of isolation starting from symptom onset or positive followed by (if no fever and symptoms improve) 5 days of mask wearing.

And as Michael Mina cannot stop pointing out, the CDC guidelines are absurd and contributing to these endless waves. More than 25% of people are still infectious after 5 days and more than 10% after 10 days. If people want to stop this thing from spreading, a simple home test with a negative result is the best way once you have been infected.

Has this vaccine been tested enough?

What? A lot of states had schools closed for 1.5 years to in person learning. Why was that? Because of the CDC being in bed with the teachers unions and Governors ignoring data from Europe that contradicted the garbage the CDC was putting out. It's very simple. School closures were worthless and some states saw the data early(FL) and led while others like NY and CA did not(hell, NY just stopped requiring masks for infants indoors a month ago, talk about batshit crazy).

Your highlighted section discussed a study of impact on three of the poorest nations in our hemisphere, but your rant was about the CDC and Governors. I did not see how one was related to the other.

I have disagreed with you from the beginning here because you refused to acknowledge then, and you refuse to acknowledge now that physical school buildings in different parts of Europe were largely designed differently than US schools, especially ones in large urban centers. Yet you always quoted studies in Scotland, England and Scandinavian countries where it is cool most of the year, schools have large windos with good airflow and ample opportunity to outside classwork. Further, you just ignored southern Europe where nations like Spain only ended their maks mandate for schools in May and Italy still has not.

Details matter, but you never want to acknowledge that, and just rant making blanket statements that simply are not true in blanket fashion. So, I gave up the discussion and I do so again here knowing, again, that you are simply wrong in your blanket condemnation.

First, before we had results for school closures specifically for COVID, we had other studies regarding other viruses and school closures. This link is from 2020 and cites a 2006 study that shows school closures can have an impact on flu epidemics. Now we know COVID and the flu are different viruses, but I stress that COVID-19 is a novel virus, and we had no specific data on it circa 2020. So the best scientists could do is take data from other viruses and extrapolate the effect on COVID. Unless of course scientists have invented a crystal ball that accurately predicts future events and study results.

Second, economic areas seem to have an impact on the efficacy of school closures to slow down COVID. This study shows the effect is marginal, but is more profound in middle and upper class neighborhoods. The study says school closures alone won't help a lot, but were part of an effective strategy to limit the spread in middle and upper class areas. The study shows that closing schools alone reduce the spread in middle to high income areas between 5% and 10%, but that number can rise as high as 20% with other mitigation measures.

Having seen all the data now, I agree that closing schools today to reduce COVID is not worth it. But compare the COVID results to the 2006 flu results and it is surprising to see the big difference between the viruses. Something that warrants further study for sure. And something the CDC and scientists could not have known would happen in 2020.

No, we had data fall of 2020 stating that covid didn't spread in schools. You have refused to acknowledge you were wrong. It's ok, I and others know who were for the school closures. It's telling that after all that's happened you still trying to sit on your high horse. Embarrassing. Can't fathom someone with the data we have still thinking it was a good decision to keep schools closed. Oh, the the garbage about schools in the cities not having ventilation? Come on dude. I grew up in a major US city and went to a public school in the city. Windows in almost every room in the school.

Also, MOST of Europe has been open for schooling for kids for almost 2 years. And most of Europe never had young kids wearing masks either in school or indoors. And we don't even need to discuss the joke that is the vaxxing of babies for covid with literally zero proof the vaccine works. So yeah, you were epically wrong then and are now. At least have the balls to admit it.

My wife and I have it now. Pretty miserable but hanging in there. Strangely I’ve lost almost all of my taste and most of my smell. I have read the new strains don’t cause taste or smell loss? Very sore throat and upset stomachs. We were given 8 self at home tests. My wife tested positive the first test last Friday. It wasn’t until Wednesday (yesterday) before I tested positive even though I felt bad since last Friday. Both have low grade fevers on and off. Chest congestion has been minor which is a positive since I have some prior lung damage. Both our pulse ox levels have been around 97%. We will quarantine until we both test negative.

Feel better and be well. I am negative now. A mild case of This variant of the virus on not a simple cold. The extreme lethargy, sore throat and loss of voice are the tell tale symptom these days. There are different courses. Loss of taste and smell still happens with the new variant. You might ask your doctor about the Paxlovid. It stops the virus from replicating and helps your immune system deal With what is left. There is a risk of rebound, but I suspect those who would have rebound really needed the help from the Paxlovid. The oxygen levels are Normal but keep checking.

So I've been exposed to a 3hr saxophone viral onslaught and a mouth-breathing cretin during the last two weeks and so far so good. Had the omicron back in March after three shots. So am I superimmune now? Anybody get three shots + omicron and still get infected later?
