Tonight I’ll be grilling bone-in country cut ribs indirect over cherry wood smoke seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades seasoning. Pat’s Homade on the last two turns. Inside we will have a pot of fresh pink eye peas with snaps and pod okra. We will also have a pot of white rice topped with Rotel tomatoes. We had our lesser hot day today with the high being 90* so I got the back yard mowed—I’ll catch the front yard tomorrow. The back porch is open and ready for your leisure. The longnecks are ice cold and the wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Ribeyes were skillet cooked last night. I ran out of fuel for my torch for lighting the grill. Still very good but I missed the hint of smoke. Tonight is jambalaya.
The house has been filled with the pleasant smell of a large pot of spaghetti sauce simmering—looks to be a good meal. Freshly made Caesar salad and Five Cheese Texas toast will be our sides. The back porch is open, the longnecks are iced down, and the wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
My wife bought some grouper at Northwest Seafood today. It was awesome. I have defrosted some squid for a squid salad for tomorrow.
Made the squid salad or calemari salad if you like that better. Lots of tentacles, but I find them to be sweeter. Tomorrow is two slabs of ribs for the Fourth. Watching the Tdf with @Bazza tomorrow. There are two mountain top stages back to back in the Alps in a bit. That is where the tour will be won or lost.
Fried gator tail today. Tomorrow for the fourth we will have fresh flounder on the grill, corn on the cob thrown on the grill, asparagus thrown on the grill, and I will throw some smash burgers on the grill also for our non fish eaters.
Rest day tomorrow but they will probably air some re-runs of the last 2 days. It's been an interesting race so far. Lot of drama with the sprint finishes! And history. I thought Sagan got squeezed a little today in that finish and apparently he did too. But doubt it rose to the level of any infraction. I hope it turns the fire up in his keester - I love the guy!
Tonight I’ll be grilling chicken halves seasoned with coarse black pepper and Everglades Cactus Dust seasoning. Yep, Pat’s Homade on the last two turns. Inside we’ll be cleaning out the leftover green beans and new potatoes and zipper peas. The back porch is open and ready for your leisure. The Yeti is restocked and the wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
Just put a double rack of St Louis cut ribs on the KJ. When I first started smoking meat I made fancy rubs with lots of ingredients. Now I just use kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. I sometimes finish ribs with honey at the end.
Technically it is called a transfer day. Much of the day will be spent moving and not doing the usual "rest day" things. Sagan did get bumped a little but sprinting is a contact sport. Once it gets hilly he will have an edge over the pure sprinters.
Technically you are correct --- but from what I understand, a lot of teams left yesterday after completion of the stage, so most of the travel was completed by today. Here's why I said what I did about Sagan:
Total domination by WvA today - wow - that was impressive! I watched the very beginning and then left to go do some work. Got back home for the last 15km. Right now my work schedule revolves around low tide when I like to ride my bike on the beach and the TDF schedule. In survival mode due to the heat and humidity. Lunch today was tuna salad. A powerbar for breaky.
Tonight will be simple but good. Grilling cheeseburgers with chips for our side. It’s hot, humid, and likely scattered thunderstorms between 4:30p-6:30p here. The longnecks are ice cold and the wine is chilled. Life is good in Gator Nation!
