10 year old rape victim can't get abortion in Ohio

How do you know that there was no effort to arrest the perp? How do you know that that the doctor did not call the police?
Given that maintaining confidentiality when a rape victim is a child is a very high priority, it is very possible that police were notified of the identity of the rapist and since it's very likely that he was a relative or acquaintance of the child revealing his identity would also reveal the identity of the victim. It's also possible that the perp was a juvenile himself (hypothetically a 13-year boy having sexual intercourse with a 10-year old girl) in which case both the perp and the victim are entitled to confidentiality.

 

You are assuming quite a bit here. The Drs. and others involved in the story may very well have reported the rape to the authorities. This is the same type of deflection, btw, that SD Gov used when faced with Qs about abortion laws in her state. They are fooling you into re-directing the story to the perp and away from the judicial/legislative healthcare nightmare created by the USSC.

I've seen reports it was her uncle. So if they release his arrest it would identify her. And again, this has been said repeatedly.

You won't be satisfied until she's paraded in front of the media. And already saw the "well is it really rape" line....SHE'S 10. How could that statement even remotely come out of this???

That’s the catch 22 in red state forced birth laws. Most women have no idea they’re pregnant at 6 weeks. The rape of a 10 year old is a separate issue entirely, and doesn’t take away from the fact that a 10 year old girl is being forced by republicans to give birth. Further, many on the right are justifying the abortion denial by saying the sex may have been consensual. There’s no such thing as a 10 year old having consensual sex.

My hope too, the State should support a woman's decision to abort due to rape, and give the rapist additional time for the abortion. The current laws in states, like Ohio, seem punitive for the victim and more about power and control over women.

I feel like if a monotheistic God exists, most assume it is supreme and perfect by definition. So whatever God says or does directly or through people must also be perfect. Kinda like Nixon saying if the president does something, it means it’s not illegal. It seems very circular to me. But the notion of a flawed, confused, or imperfect God - much less a sadistic one - might bother people more than the complete absence of God.

 

In many of these states, rape is just a few months or few years in jail. Abortion now carries DECADES (saw somewhere 90 years but don't know if that's right).

Not feeling the best but with examples like a judge giving a rapist a reduced sentence because he showed "consideration" by wearing a condom, or awarding rapists custody of their kids conceived by rape...

A thoughtful take. From time immemorial people in authority have designated to themselves the responsibility or right to correct what they view as wrong and punish those who transgress or violate standards of behavior or established law. In the western or 'Christian world' the right or responsibility to do this is established on biblical precedent where those in violation of God's law were held accountable, duly punished according to standards and customs.

Does 'a perfect God' take vengeful action or forgive in a given situation? Who decides God's attitude and desire? Do those taking vengeance or imposing rigid intolerable standards or laws believe they have God's imprimatur in whatever action they propose or take? Based on flawed and contradictory biblical Scripture, what in their minds and hearts constitutes 'a perfect God'?

 

Agree, there's no consent. What caught my attention was what you said: "most women have no idea they're pregnant at 6 weeks." The newspaper article pinpointed the date of conception at 6 weeks, 3 days. I find that degree of accuracy to be suspicious, and the claim that she was impregnated exactly 6 weeks prior to release of the Dobbs decicion to be quite convenient for the writer's intent.

As I explained earlier yes. You can be THAT accurate. I can still tell you the exact day I conceived my son and the exact date I was raped. Ultrasounds can absolutely get that close.

You know who didn't find it convenient? The 10 year old. That this just so happened....you know how Ohio prevents this? By actually filing it under maternal health, helping her, and then not coming out looking like jackwagons.
