It is not, but you just compared it to Juneteenth, which is a national holiday.

I suspect that you would be just as upset about a pride flag in a store in October as you are in June.

Another great post mr hans. I like your style.
I don’t have any religious feelings and I haven’t given it much thought really. Except lately gays are seemingly everywhere.
I think it’s just so different from me and my family that I don’t know what to do with it. And no one in my social circle is out right gay, I am not sure why I would seek out these people or experiences. I can’t think of one reason to attend a gay parade or a drag show. So when the gay stuff is shoved down my throat, I might be having a difficult time swallowing it all.

    Thanks!

I grew up in a conservative area and went most of my life not knowing anyone who was openly gay or lesbian but suspected some probably were. I don’t recall giving it much thought. Now I know a lot of people who are out. I’m glad they’re able to be themselves these days. I personally see no valid moral objection to homosexual sex.

I’ve never been to a drag show or gay pride parade. I did attend a lesbian wedding which was very nice and far more tame than most weddings I have been to where people were getting drunk and looking to hook up.

Personally, some of the pride parades I’ve seen videos of to me seem perhaps age inappropriate for kids. To be fair, there are drunk, straight people flashing, making out, and humping each other at Mardis Gras parades, for example.

Please find anywhere I said I was upset by a gay pride flag anywhere…
    You can’t.
Juneteenth is a national holiday that’s true… and there have been several articles upset about its commercialism. All by prominent black community leaders.
So again, let’s not act like this has anything to do with gay rights. Those that are tired of it being pushed in their face are tired of it being COMMERCIALLY pushed in their face. Just like their has been push back on Merry Christmas being said to people who aren’t “Christian”.

Off topic, but as a resident of New Orleans, I will say the Mardi Gras parades thing is a bit of a misconception. Occasionally, you might see somebody flash a float downtown (to the eyerolling of most locals), but you never see that on most of the routes. The least family friendly things are some dance groups that will wear suggestive things and have pretty suggestive names. But, generally, if you attend a parade, especially outside of downtown, they are pretty family friendly.

Now, Bourbon and the quarter on either Lundi or Mardi Gras, that is not family friendly. Once saw somebody set up a hot tub straight on a street in the quarter and fill it with naked people at like 3 in the afternoon on Mardi Gras.

You seem pretty upset about it. You keep claiming that people are "pushing it in your face" or some such notion. Apparently, selling a flag or putting a commercial up about supporting gay rights is "pushing it in your face" which suggests that it is something you are upset about hearing or seeing. As somebody who isn't upset about it, I don't feel like anybody is forcing me to consume anything by letting other people consume something.

    Wow
    Virtue signal a little brighter!
I never said any of those things you attributed to me. I mentioned being tired of all the organizations, corporations and business acting like they care in June when all they care about is the money. I never said that pride flags or anything else make me mad or upset.
DomI disagree with the life style… yep. But I probably disagree with the lifestyle of ost of the people on this forum. So what. Why do YOU feel the need to attribute fear or anger towards those that disagree with you?

Christmas gets about 5 weeks :)

"Black Friday" "Cyber Monday" "Super Saturday" "Small Business Saturday" etc.

Gays been doing pride marches for a long time now but now corporations are doing what corporations do in a capitalistic society, capitalizing on it. But Christmas is without comparison, the most commercialized of all of them, it's not even close. In fact, w/Christmas, the mantra has been to buy buy buy to "help the economy" because so many biz can make or break depending on how sales go.

Yeah, at some point, you are kind of telling on yourself. You are upset that I am not upset and let it be known that I am not upset that people sell gay themed items (this is virtue signaling apparently, and I suspect that the concern there, like most accusations of virtue signaling is the virtue not the signal).

The only thing I attributed you as saying was that it was being "pushed in your face." You made that comment in Post 131, which I quoted. You have also said that June is your least favorite month, which seems attributed to this issue. You referred to it as "bullcrap." You compared gay people to drunkards and drug users.

At no point have I attributed either fear or anger towards those you disagree with. I said you were upset. Those quotes I just listed are the quotes of a person that is upset. Perhaps your sensitivity on the subject is actually just displaying your own conscience about your own thoughts towards gay people. Or perhaps it is just cognitive dissonance. Regardless, neither of those things are my problem.

You can count to the exact number, the amount of LGBTQ friend you have? That's odd to me.
