I find several concerning issues in the article:

First, how did the article's writer get this information? The OB/Gyn just jumped on the phone to the paper?

Second, the alleged victim just happens to be 6 weeks & 3 days pregnant on the third day after the Dobbs decision? That's a pretty accurate determination of date-of-conception - and a pretty amazing coincidence.

Third: how come the OB/Gyn won't return the calls of BusinessInsider (but she apparently had no qualms calling the Indy paper)?

Another version of this story says the OB/Gyn called the Columbus Dispatch. A third version identified the alleged victim's name as "Wade America." (Probably: Roe America was too obvious.)

Before y'all get too wound up, maybe it would be useful to learn if this article is true - or just a hit piece.

Indiana is somehow more liberal than Ohio? That's....surprising.

Whatever the problem, its with the law.

The sup. Ct. Is NOT where you go to fix the law--its where you go to get the final say on what the law actually provides for, when there is a sincere dispute.

Roe made up law out of whole cloth.

    It was bogus an initio.

Take your grievance up with Ohio's legislature, or YOUR'N Democrat controlled federal congress, about addressing this problem via federal legislation.

That is the law of the land.

That's how rule of law is supposed to actually work.

    C'est la vie.

As well it ought to be.

Gay marriage is another bogus SCOTUS concoction that needs to be corrected.

Billy Bob's def of marriage act law was good law and shoula stood.

Thoughtful response. Sadly, in today's world it doesn't matter if the story is true nor accurate because the goal is to get people riled up and angry. Evidently, it's working as planned.

Well to be honest, if the 6 alt-right Neanderthals on the SC get their way, that's exactly what will happen.

A federal individual right was taken away and given to the state, whether a state is pro abortion or anti abortion.

It is a reduction of individual rights, and the state part is irrelevant, and to those without means, it’s meaningless.

Conservatives apparently no longer believe in a right to privacy that was established through Conservative majority courts (Griswold, Loving, Roe, Casey, Obergefell), or more likely that they believe in a white Christian male’s right to privacy, but not for women, minorities, or gays. (since those are the ones that needed court cases to afford that right on a federal level, independent of the states whims)

And who are we kidding here, the argument that it is Congress’s job is disingenuous, since they would oppose a federal law to codify these issues, and in some cases support a federal ban.

States Rights is code for the right to dictate and oppress.

Seriously. Let’s mandate paternity testing for all politicians cross referenced against every kid with unknown fathers and watch how quickly they screech invasion of privacy.

Shit. While we’re at it, let’s make it a capital felony for an elected official to solicit an abortion but not report it in the public record. Let’s see how serious these assholes are about saving the “most innocent” when it’s their asses on the line.

    Who are you kidding, indeed.

Where was the OB/Gyn's respect for the alleged victim's "right to privacy."

And, calling for a national abortion law is also code for dictating and oppressing. It's just that you like that one.

It would be nice if leaders walked the walk, wouldn't it? But why limit it to abortion; and why limit it to politicians?

Why are you blaming the OB/GYN? Aren't the lawsuits filed to stop the Ohio law from going into effect on 7/1 not public record?

How is a national abortion law oppressing? Are you implying that a national law would force women to get abortions?

As far as I can recall the victim was never named by the OB/GYN and the difference is that a national law would preserve individual freedom in contrast to state laws which would restrict the freedom of individuals. I'm not sure how you can call a law that would preserve individual freedom "dictating and oppressing". By the way, if the argument that regulating an abortion should be left to states were applied to civil rights, a number of Southern states would still have Jim Crow laws mandating segregated facilities and in fact the states rights argument was even applied by opponents to public school desegregation mandated by Brown v. Board of Education.

Good timing, SCOTUS just took an axe to the right to privacy based on their textualist reasoning….something tells me they’d suddenly find that right again these laws were passed.
