Ben: The problem with your argument is that it is in isolation. The differences between 2020 and past years are many, but they include fraudulent stolen election claims, the attempt to submit alternative slates of fraudulent delegates, and pressure on the losing Vice President to reject those delegates.

This false equivalency nonsense is what conservative media dishes out to their rubes 24/7. It’s why the same “whataboutism” comes back 1000 times for each separate shenanigan committed by a conservative - why we often see the same talking points repeated ad nauseam on here.

It’s disappointing seeing GatorBen, who is unquestionably of the highest intellect, pushing such rubbish logic.

Trump is/was/will be trash but I think these prolonged overly dramatic hearings are back during a bit. Three guys in the gym were talking about it. Two are strong democrats and they said these hearings are coming off as a petty circus. They said everyone knows what trump did and now this hearing is just to prolong the story even longer. Guy called it a bad look.
I kind of agree. No one is changing his or her mind. This “bombshell” or “ new witness with intel” only to find it was someone that was kind of close to someone else who was talking about it… just seems to pushing to hard, trying to hard to stretch this out.

The funny thing is everything relevant about this has been confirmed. Trump indeed wanted to march on the Capitol with his mob. There is too much corroboration, including Trumps own words in his speech stating what he thought he was going to do.

I would love to see more people go under oath about this. They’ll probably give even more confirmation about Trump wanting to march with the insurrectionists on the Capitol, and at best they would get into the weeds splitting hairs as to whether Trump “grabbed” the wheel or “lunged” at secret service.

Part of me agrees with this, except that he and minions are still promoting and running on the election fraud lies. At some point, the GOP themselves have to say, enough. I admit to being part of the problem as an NPA, I need to register GOP again to vote in primaries.
With the percentage of polling of GOP that allegedly believe it, I think you have to. I also think having Kinzinger and Cheney do most of the questioning is the right call. I mean we don’t want another shift show do we ;)

Just look at whataboutism in this thread, often equating a BB to a softball, and this issue is clearly a softball. Yet many cannot hit the facts.

I agree completely. A quick trial would have been infinitely preferable. Of course, if you're suggesting the country just let the whole thing slide, and let Trump off the hook, well, then, I disagree.

The FBI is rounding up and prosecuting the participants of the insurrection. I can't think of one single reason the ringleader should be exempt.

I don’t think I said that or implied it. But this whole televised hearing is coming off like the drama queen in class throwing a fit when she scrapes her knee. After a while everyone just told their eyes and ignores it. Dems should have handled it better and more professionally. This stringing it out forever looks desperate.

    WHY IS THIS ON DEMS?

This was made public on Jan 3, 2021. REPUBLICANS not only did not take action then, they didn't even denounce Trump. I agree this shoulda been over a long time ago, but fear & greed trumped standing up for our country, so here we are.

Pubs refused to handle it at all. Given that it is pretty weak to use the "drama queen" BS.

Might be a good thing they strung it out through this week or we might not have heard from Cassidy Hutchinson. I don't think anyone was ignoring it on Tuesday.

I haven't watched one minute of the actual proceedings, but from the clips I've seen there is a complete lack of fit-throwing and drama. More of a C-Span vibe. I don't know what you mean by handling it "more professionally."

If "people," don't like it, don't watch.

When they did the unscheduled hearing I think a lot of people thought “bombshell witness” (saw people speculating Pence, or possibly Giuliani).

As it turned out, it was more the timing of her changing legal council away from the Trump mob lawyers who were pressuring her. Nonetheless it was obviously extremely compelling testimony, AND they seemingly wanted to have her testimony pressure Pat Cippolone to give his. Cippolone has now been subpoenaed. Cippolone obviously is a harder get as he was White House council and attorney-client privilege is at play. However, it is on record that he was advising these people they were in danger of engaging in criminal acts. They carried on anyway against his legal advice, ergo he WITNESSED likely criminal acts, which not only invalidates attorney-client privilege, it compels him to now corroborate. Maybe there is some pseudo-legal nonsense that he needs to protect the office of the President and thus secrecy must remain, but this line of reasoning would be horseshit. Lawyers who witness crimes or who participate in crimes don’t have to maintain privilege, privilege is obliterated, their duty is actually the opposite (at least in the narrow scope of these events he witnessed, obviously other WH council privilege must still apply).

It looks desperate because it is. This is a shit show just like the impeachment was. Nothing more but food for their sheep.
I understand stand some not liking Trump but he was great and what our country needed. I would never describe him as trash but a patriot, those running this sham and their followers are trash
