After watching some highlight footage, I can confidently say that young Mr. Haugh is a high D-1 prospect. He's got an all-around skill set and good athleticism. He'll need to add some muscle, but he would be a good one to see in the orange and blue.

You don't need what Coach Al McGuire called an "aircraft carrier" to be a good team. One example was the Flying Illini 1989 basketball team. One of the best teams not to win the NCAA championship. Length and atheticism all over the court. They were good.

And then Glen Rice took over.

I watched that Illini team a good bit that tournament. They were indeed the best team.

The good news is he can come in and learn at the college level instead of cruising in HS. The bad news is if he is better than what we expect then he can transfer without penalty.

    Damn NIL...

There's nothing you say here I could argue with. But hell, this is the Internet and it's the off-season, so I will anyway.
He could also transfer without penalty if he is WORSE than what we expect. Or EXACTLY what we expect. And transferring without penalty is not the bastard love-child of NIL. We had it before NIL.

Not exactly, but I did not know there was going to be math on the test.

Haugh committed to the Gators. Apparently, he will stay in prep school for next season.

I don’t think that he is ready. He plays for the Perkiomen School in Pennsylvania, which has a solid basketball program. Over the last few days, I watched on YouTube the last 2 games of Perkiomen’s season, which were the semi’s and finals of the Pennsylvania Independent School state championships. Perkiomen lost in the championship game by 5 points to a really good Westtown team that was led by the #1 high school senior in the country in 7’2” Derek Lively, who, of course, will be attending Duke. The final score was something like 47-42. Haugh looks to me to be a legitimate 6’9” tall. He is very unselfish and fundamentally sound. He is an excellent defender at the 4 position and has a nose for the ball inside. He scored 9 points in the title game. He did not put the ball on the floor at all. So, he either took 3 pointers or tried to score at the basket. He had trouble making closely guarded threes. He needs to work on putting the ball on the floor and scoring off the dribble. He was not the primary scoring option for his team. I love this kid’s upside, but I think that it will help for him to play another year of high school ball. You can find a lot of his school’s games on YouTube. As an aside, the college basketball redshirt rule needs to change. The NCAA allows football players to play in a third of the team’s regular season games without using up a year of eligibility. If it were the same for basketball, I would be all for Haugh attending UF beginning in the fall.

Welcome aboard Thomas! Wanted him in the 22 class, but if he's not fully ready, great to get the 23 class started with a 6'9 forward with upside.

He needs to come to UF THIS year and REDSHIRT! Go against grown men. Castleton, Jotoboh, Felder, Fudge. Guard 6-5 wings and guards. Top strength and conditioning programs in the country. Excellent coaching. Understand the demands of the college game...

Or he can go to a prep school which is a glorified high school playing against other glorified high schools.... No strength and conditioning, poor coaching, poor competition. If this is the case We will never see him in a Gator uniform.

He needs to stay in school, be a kid, have a senior year, and have great memories with his teammates.

I am pretty sure that 2022 was his senior year. He is staying in prep school for an extra year.
