The GBD has proven to be right. If only!

But you keep boosting away (which by the way the GBD was for these drugs).

Time will continue to show the GBD was the correct approach and how wrong you have been. The damage done by a few tyrant authoritarians to medicine is generational. It angers me to this day. The lives destroyed because of pure pride and arrogance. Some out of just pure evil for control. To keep kids out of school. To coerce healthy people to take a drug they don’t need. To not even consider the mental consequences. To masking for virtue and forcing kids to engage in it. To ignore known science and medicine.

But there is no doubt propaganda is a powerful tool. It has been used to inflict immeasurable damage.

For months now most have moved on. Some of us for some time. It is frustrating to watch some continue to peddle the idea we should vaccinate children with a drug that provides minimal benefit at best. If any. For a disease that is not dangerous to them.

@tilly nails it. I don’t give my kids the flu shot. They are in far more danger of the flu than they are from Covid. On top of that we know these drugs are ineffective at stopping the spread now. Yet we have some continue to peddle them.

Go take as many boosters as you need. Take as many other therapeutics as you need if you feel it necessary. But we must learn to never make the mistakes we did again.

2nd person i know just got the "rebound". She took Paxlovid, did her 5 days in covid jail (quarantine), 5 days mask and i heard yesterday (day 14/15?) she got full blown symptoms back. Amazingly, she is still taking fitness classes at our clubhouse. IMO, these people who get the rebound need to isolate themselves again. There is no info coming out if they once again are shedding virus. I wouldn't touch Paxlovid unless I had severe comorbidities. The stuff will tear up your stomach and IMO, it doesn't give your body a chance to mount the immune response that it should. If you are vaccinated and boosted and in decent health, ride it out. Today is my first day out of Covid Jail for me . Feeling pretty good.

My kids get a flu shot, especially if they are going to see their grandparents or other elderly. The shot not only gives my kids extra protection, but the elderly as well. Same concept with the COVID shot.

As for NI versus immunity, at the time, the data suggested the vaccine was better. Especially considering the data out of Manaus, Brazil. But the Manaus data was flawed, and more NI data has come out. And now, the data shows when it comes to hospitalization and death, NI and vaccine immunity are about equal. And having both gives one the most protection.

i dont nelieve the vaccine is better than natural immunity. i think its a different immune response. best immunity is if youve had both. at this point in time,

My daughter and her boyfriend just got it and are quarantining together at his place so she won't infect her roommate. What ever will they do with all that time in isolation? She was up to date on her vaccine. Hope she's up to date on her contraceptives.

I get out of COVID jail Saturday AM. I had it a few days before I tested and was getting better when I tested. I am taking the Paxlovid because if a risk factor. I have had stomach issues, but my appetite has been very good. Will keep everyone posted on this.

Get better soon, duch. Sorry to hear that you got nabbed.

Just got a call from my mother a few hours ago that my uncle, who I was just with this Saturday and on multiple days in the past two weeks got the vid (I was back in NY visiting fam). He's heading to the VA hospital right now. I tested when I got home on Sun night and today when she told me. Both negative.

You fell for the propaganda and bad ideas and you're angry for a lot of really nonsensical reasons. But if you think the GBD was proven right, how about some evidence? After all, your claims about the vaccine amount to binary categoricals until you recognize that less effective in slowing the spread is not the same thing as not effective. The numbers show, however, that even at the height of omicron, unvaxxed were getting nabbed at over 2x the rate vaxxed were and died at over 10x the rate. That is evidence of effectiveness, especially against severe sickness and death. It's not a mistake to take a vaccine. I feel for those around you.

Thanks. I feel good today. Better than usual actually. If I didn’t know I was positive, I would not know. I am past the few days if feeling unwell. I will post a few links— it looks like we are in a BA5 uptick now. And, our sample of posters here reflects it.

All you have to look at are kids and test scores. We have screwed the kids who have the least.

With regards to proving how thing would have gone with the GBD…we can’t. We chose a path. It has been an abject failure and disaster.

I could easily speculate if we had been honest about natural immunity. Focused on the high risk groups. We would have had far better participation (especially in the high risk groups which were participating well but not where we would have wanted in the beginning) in taking the new drugs early on than we did. But we decided to ignore natural immunity (which was far superior and really worked during Delta). And decided to coerce healthy people who were at little risk to take a drug they did not need. We damaged so much from these two policy decisions. Then we kept doubling down as omicron came and really showed these drugs designed for the alpha variant spike protein are archaic as the data showed. Now we have people 3 and 4 times vaccinated getting the sub-variants like clockwork. Even natural immunity from alpha and delta are not as good anymore.

But you keep thinking we made the right decisions. We did not. And you were wrong.

Why we did not focus on the high risk groups and work to have second and third generations of the Covid drugs is part of the incompetence (we know we can go to the Southern Hemisphere to do this/could change but…). Instead we damaged public trust.

The same people are dying since the beginning. We have known this. And instead of focusing on this massive risk gradient difference we are out trying to vaccinate 6 month olds with the same drug that is failing. It truly is baffling and should anger every single person.

I would argue a big part of this is due to the fact that BOTH sides present what they want to present it causes mistrust.

I see similar things will patients all the time, a doctor does a test and says it's "normal" the patient then believes that the normal test exclude all manner of things. When in fact it is only specific for one thing. The other issue is limits of a test. xrays for example.
I've always tried to avoid this issue by explaining the limits of the test, however some times people still just don't get it.
