Trump wasn’t in that vehicle, he was in an SUV, and this pic shows you can reach the driver from the back seat.

Good point, but in fairness… he deserves adequate counsel to defend him if charged. This was not the purpose of this committee to establish guilt. It is clear that facts need to be thoroughly examined. Sadly, a key witness has passed away. RIP to Michael Stenger. I can’t image how difficult it has been for him.

Welp… that makes this all the more plausible and equally dumb for his Truth response.

He probably thinks that if only he'd been there, in person to rally the insurrectionists, they'd have been victorious. Such is his ego. Probably envisioned being borne in triumph, on the shoulders of his faithful, to his second term. Such is his delusion.

I saw this a while back, and didn't think much of it at the time. It's a historian saying the coup failed because Trump wasn't in the capitol. IMO, it probably would have failed for other reasons, but this historian says coups don't stand a chance unless the person you are trying to install it there and ready to assume power.

Thanks you to the secret service agents who kept his treasonous ass out the Capitol that day.

Trump wanted to be at the Capitol riot because his presence would have been the key to a successful coup, historian speculates

Btw today’s testimony is front page of every online news site, yes even fox. And I’m sure it will lead off on nightly news tonight. This hearing is getting a lot of attention.

Trump didn't want to stop Capitol attack, former White House aide testifies

Inside the West Wing, Cipollone came "barreling down the" hallway, Hutchinson said, and told Meadows "The rioters have gotten into the Capitol, Mark. We need to go see the President now."

Meadows responded "He doesn't want to do anything," Hutchinson recalled.

Cipollone then told Meadows "Something needs to be done, or somebody is going to die and this is going to be on your effing hands," Hutchinson testified.

By that time, Trump had sent a tweet disparaging Vice President Mike Pence, who he was pressing to stop the certification of the 2020 election, and the rioters were chanting "Hang Mike Pence!"

"They're literally calling for the VP to be effing hung," Cipollone said, according to Hutchinson.

He wanted to take down the metal detectors to increase the crowd size. Everyone knows of his absolute obsession with crowd size. And what's the point of a large crowd if he isn't there to bask in the glory?

From a legal standpoint, The core testimony today was the statement that Trump wanted the metal detectors taken down because the armed demonstrators were not there to hurt him and the testimony about the deletions from his speech that he then as libbed. It places into context Trump’s statements at the rally The claimed assault on the Secret Service agent so he could go the the Capital has sizzle (and shows his state of mind to go there when he said it in the speech). But the former facts show his state of mind and explain what he expected and why he didn’t do anything to stop it. Meadows has problems too, based on his advance expectations for 1-6.

I've been kinda assuming he never intended to go down there and just ditched his people. If he did try to go, that would be pretty astonishing to me. Seems like it would have been potentially very dangerous. Heck, as far as I'm aware, we don't even know who the pipe bomber(s) was/were and don't know their targets. In any event, that Business Insider article is pretty chilling IF true.

McCarthy said it is all false. Audio at 11 ;)

Would we even know if Trump had surreptitiously filled out pardons?

    • Hutchinson testified that Trump was informed that attendees at a Jan. 6 rally near the White House were armed but that he still wanted security removed from the area and the crowd to march to the Capitol. Trump waved off concerns that the rallygoers had been reported to be armed. “You know, I don’t even care that they have weapons. They’re not here to hurt me,” Hutchinson testified Trump said.

Trump is losing it on his "social media" platform, which is interestingly under federal investigation.

Amazing how many grown men put their trust in this fat orange.

Edit: Trust in 2020. I have no beef with someone voting for him in 2016. He was an unknown.

He’s ranting everything she’s says is a lie. It seems at some point even his followers would think, maybe it’s not everyone else is lying, maybe it’s trump. A proven liar.

No he wasn’t an unknown. He was the same racist, sexist, dog-whistle blowing charlatan with an over-sized sense of ego and entitlement back then too.

I suppose his worshippers next line of defense will be " well he hasn't been convicted in a court of law, so none of it matters and...... back to Hunter Biden"
