This was my dream job that I wanted after I retired Wanted to work in the Otis Hawkins Center (I got to take an in depth tour of that facility-so awesome I imagined one of the empty offices as mine lol) I was a HS counselor for 23 years, so I have the experience...but with moving, prices in housing/cost of living now days, and I love my current neighborhood etc. ..I decided to remain here...

 

Awesome to hear!! Great experience in that 23 that would have made you great for that job.

 

Totally agree. People are allowed to trash our program days on end, but if you call them trolls your post gets edited or deleted. They are bad for our program for exactly the reasons you state, yet they seem to be able to trash our coaches without bounds. An odd double-standard for a message board designed for people who like UF

 

When I was up at UF (as an older grad student lol) I told my counseling profs that I wanted to work with athletes (specifically football )...once I graduated-came back home and life got in the way of fulfilling my dream...sigh

 

Didn't one of the admins post something about overly negative posters, etc.-I think on Ray Gator board it was repeated today-maybe needs to be put here as well..

 

We'll there are limits on coaches but not much. The reasoning is they are paid professional adults.

 

Still very bad for our program. Complaining and critiquing is one thing, but the bold proclamations on how our coaches have already failed (ludicrous only months into the job and their first game still over 2 months away) - and declaring mediocrity for UF is literally pulling the rug out from under them. It’s exactly what I would want todo if I were a fan of a rival team. It’s trolling plain and simple, yet it’s allowed to fly

 

I get it. I pay little attention to Aholes but I understand many do, and elevator farters should be dropped down the shaft.

Well, I don't make the rules but understand and agree that discussion and even different opinions are encouraged here on Gator Country. Thankfully, there are a very limited few who are willing to give-up this early in the process. I think most of us try to point out where we disagree with them at first and, if they just persist, fewer and fewer even recognize them or what they say. We'll never have 100% agreement on most things so the trick, I think, is to draw a line individually, and as a group, and as a site.

I trust others who stop by to read Gator Country, including recruits and their families, can see what the overwhelming majority post.

 

Exactly. And the media likes to ascribe a programs standing using the scuttlebutt of their programs social media forums. We've seen it before where the handful of negative sentiments are used to make a story out of nothing.
