Last comment for now because I have to rest but needed to do this.

I have never voted party lines. I've prided myself in being an independent/no affiliation. But I will absolutely not vote for anyone who doesn't support women's rights. So for the first time I may end up voting all democrat this year and in 2024. Because while a few Republicans may be in line with my ideals they've let the lunatics take over. Look at the Texas GOP's little spiel about their platform. I don't want people like that in power and unfortunately when you let the lunatics run things it ruins it for others.

I'd rather deal with "woke" than my daughter facing arrest someday for a miscarriage, which by the way many many many more women face than some think.

    You talkin Trump?

He was a mercenary (like Urban Meyer / the Gators), tapped to get a job done. Not a Saint to lead or explain basis of morality.

Btw....re Trump: mission accomplished. Supreme Court correcting decades of mistakes, beginning w the grandaddy of them all--our modern day Dred Scott--bc of Trump.

So when a super liberal state starts allowing 3rd trimester abortions all these "states rights" GOPers aren't gonna say a word, correct?

    It's not about women's rights.

It's about the baby's voice, which was 1000% snuffed out by Roe, upon the same bullshit basis as Dred Scott--by denying the subject group's collective humanity.

All the SCOTUS did yesterday, was UNdo a catastrophic decades old mistake.

    States rights allowed for slavery.

    That's been resolved.

    States rights have their limits.

Yeah it's about a women's right to choose what to do with their body. It's their body. Period.

Of course republicans don't care about that.

They rather pass laws - you know big gov - to tell women what they can do with their bodies.

    Taliban-lite

Seems your point is backwards. I always thought big government was federal not state.

Of course they don’t. Abortion is the one issue Republicans use to pretend they have souls.

Slavery was resolved by a constitutional amendment. Overturning Roe did nothing to save the unborn. It just made it harder and likely takes your end goal into oblivion if you throw woman in jail. The only way this is resolved is through a constitution amendment.

    The baby in the woman?

Yet again, like virtually every argunent ever seeking to justify Roe, you neglect to mention the baby.

...and btw, Roe is the quintessential demonstration of Big Gov, bc it amputated the abortion issue wholesale from the public forum. From on high.

    Authortarian like.

Republican and Democratic processes be damned.

I am not implying you're a racist nor was my comment trying to make this about racism. If I made a similar analogy about starting a football game with a 21 pt deficit, would you say I'm making this about sports?

It is uncharacteristic of you to use that particular argumentative tactic.

To clarify and hopefully bring this subthread to closure, I challenge your assertion that the current SCOTUS issuing rights-denying rulings for whole nation is fault of the Democrat turnout when more dems actually turned out than Republicans. The fact that the distribution of votes were insufficient to win the electoral college or control the Senate show the inherent failings of our government structure that allows minority rule. It is also the fault of the Republicans that voted for trump, particularly the substantial pro-choice contingent. It is Mitch's fault for the hypocrisy of denying Garland yet pushing through that Handmaids Tale woman.

There are many factors that led us to where our rights are being taken away, but "it's the Democrats' fault for winning the popular vote by not overcoming the inherent structural disadvantages" rings a bit hollow.

Do you think the pro-choice Republicans are blaming this new ruling on the Democrat turnout?

The baby is irrelevant. Woman's body. Her call.

No one else has a say. People like you trying to argue that YOU somehow have a say because a POTENTIAL baby is involved is horseshit.

Not your body, not your call.

Well, now, 50 years later, we can resume the discussion about where we draw the line bt states' and federal authority, balanced against women's rights, AND the baby's.

That discussion was iced completely, unilaterally and unconstitutionally, under and by, Roe.

Atta boy...own your complete disregard of the baby's humanity.

Hopefully more of your lefty associates follow suit, in order to properly crystallize the actual issue.

Right. Like I said, when a super liberal state allows 3rd trimester abortions it's just gonna be States rights.
