I wonder what happens to the football program the minute Ruiz is no longer able or willing to spend millions on teenagers with no real ROI accept watching semi competitive miami games against a garbage schedule and still not contending for championships.

I read somewhere Ruiz business already lost 86% of value I may be wrong or confused or both but I did read on this site that UM does not have the ca$h

Not sure the attraction..no stadium on campus, small fan base at games, do they have an in door facility or a modern up to date stand alone football facility..their coach while I guess he can recruit..his record at his last school not all that ...

 

Exactly my point. Miami has always been strapped for cash and it would seem IMO that Ruiz is the primary and possibly one of the only NIL contributors for Miami, unlike what you see with other "collectives" that include several high dollar donors. To base your whole program on securing player thru the highest bid doesn't bode well if the well dries up a bit or NIL restrictions are implemented that hinder guys like Ruiz's inducement payments.

There seems to be a disconnect with some of our fanbase as to why young athletes would want to play for Miami. I'm assuming it's a cultural divide but there is plenty of allure for young celebrity seeking, girl crazy, money having athletes to play IN Miami. Sure the NFL is the goal but I imagine those who want that lifestyle assume they can get similar training and experience playing football but can't replicate the gaudy culture and lights of the city of Miami.

It's not for me but I've always understood why recruits may want to go there.

I am just saying that if you want a great education and a program that has everything..oh forgot to mention we are in the SEC and they are in the acc...how many NC has the acc won in say the last 15 to 20 years..SEC is more competitive and prestigious...Gainesville isn't that bad..Also, our guys have done pretty well in the NFL draft and there are life long connections that could help out in the future..

 

All 100% valid and rational, unfortunately the typical 18 year old male's brain processes the bling, chicks, and cash equal to or greater than the logical, long term aspects.

 

Maybe-UF should have Lingard talk to them Chicks and bling have gotten a few players in trouble

 

Yep. And anyone thinking UF would respond with anything other than that hasn't been paying attention for the last 38 years.

It's going to be a game of weathering the craziness for the next 18 months and hoping either the market settles or guidelines change the dynamic. If that happens, UF will be in good position and if not it's 2nd tier.

Coral Gables, South Beach and glitter are big draws. Lots of candy for a football star. Your comment about cultural divide was excellent. We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.

I never understood that statement by him? Coaches don't bid on anything. NIL companies and collectives maybe, but, not coaches or even schools for that matter.
