Oh my! So superb I had to actually try and remember my password! Bigtime congrats to everybody associated with Florida track and field. Go Gators, men and women! So excited for everyone. Congrats!
just for a future perspective, if you count texas as a sec school, the top 6 women's teams were from the sec and i think 4 of the top 6 mens.
Events Florida scored in 10 pts - Long Jump - Jasmine Moore 4 pts - Long Jump - Claire Bryant 10 pts - Triple Jump - Jasmine Moore 3 pts - Triple Jump - Natricia Hooper 10 pts - 400m - Talitha Diggs 5 pts - 800m - Imogen Barrett 8 pts - 400h - Anna Hall 2 pts - 400h - Vanessa Watson 10 pts - Heptathlon - Anna Hall 5 pts - Heptathlon - Sterling Lester 8 pts - 5,000m Parker Valby I think I am off a point, somebody let me know where I am wrong. This adds up to 75 and we got 74.
What was hilarious… at least to me, was the back and forth between the Georgia fans an the Texas fans before and during the mens competition on the Letsrun forum. They were projecting points for their respective teams to determine the winner. They completely ignored UF right up to the point we clinched the title… then it was like where the blank did these guys come from. The Georgia fans were particularly devastated. Texas fans remained convinced it was just a fluke… amazing the 12 “ flukes” Mouse now has.
Forgot we were a track school . Wow this might get us to the “All Sports Trophy “ which promotes the label #TheEverythingSchool !!! Wait till I run this at my SEC brethren !
Do you mean the team that mede it to the sec tourney final, hosted a regional and was 1 win away from making a super regional? All while missing their #1 pitcher for the season?
Parker Valby’s story is amazing. She broke her heel in indoors and only began running a month ago. She is still only running 3-4 days a week and cross training the rest. I’m really excited to see how this freshman progresses. My daughter runs in high school right now and is completely in awe of her.
For which I am extremely grateful , but the back and forth between Texas and Georgia was during the men’s competition.
Just a shout-out for Parker Valby. She is a baller. She led the women's XC nationals for 70% of the race before fading at the end. This from a former Gator XC runner- that takes guts. To put yourself out there- to gamble so big- and undergo so much pain when it's so much easier to play it safe and hang out at 50th... It's hard to describe how rare and difficult that is. So if you can watch the women's NCAA XC again somewhere- it was a foreshadowing of her incredible races at SEC outdoors and NCAAs. Both won the meet for us, btw. (NCAA it clinched, SECs it won it.) And we have not been an XC school. Some good runners, but not a power. I think Solinsky is changing this.
Did the same thing in the 5000. Her and Tuohy led the whole way and it was Parker who put in the surge to break the rest of the field. And to have that much confidence and be that brave with her limited training is just awesome. Can’t wait to see the rest of her career. Hope she stays healthy because she could be really special.
I understood, but was in a good mood, so said the only good thing I could think of about the butt sniffing leg humpers.
I hope so, but we may just be lucky that Valby seems to have been a Gator fan since she was little. This is on her twitter feed.
Yes....Angelina Perez. Since Mouse will not put a lot of scholarship money into distance (which is not a knock on him....as he has clearly figured out how to spend the scholarships to dominate track), we really need to push hard on getting the top Florida runners and more specifically anyone whose family already has Florida prepaid and also any of those students who will be getting Bright Futures. Reading profiles, there seems to be a lot of distance runners who are at the top of their class academically.
