Can’t say this is a total surprise—didn’t Pogue go down on the field for Seniors Day—usually that means they are moving on doesn’t it?

He did participate in Senior Day. Just strange to me that he would enter the portal. He is basically walking away from a spot in the weekend rotation.

Sully stuck with Halter through thick and thin. That one would surprise me too. Guess I may be in for quite a few surprises.

Won’t be our Friday night guy for sure now. My guess is Sully let him know that he would be a midweek starter as there will be several in front of him.

Disagree 100%. In his only true opportunity he was pretty darn good against a pretty solid liberty team. Sully has said that he is ahead of Puk at the same age

he has graduated, so maybe the continuing education he has to go to another school to get? I am just grasping at straws here

Pogue wanting out is another red flag for me after all the pitchers that left last year. If Pogue is able to get a decent draft position and leave is one thing but to leave this quickly and possibly be an important piece on next year's staff, possibly be a weekend starter. I thought everything was looking good for his future if he stayed for one more year. If he transfers it better be a wide open need with a really good team to give him a better opportunity in 2023. I'll move him off my OP for next year.

Let me start by saying I don’t like this and think Pogue could have been a very good midweek guy or even a Sunday guy. I disagree with others that think he could be a Friday night guy. At Stetson or UCF yes. Like I said, I don’t like this as I think he would’ve really helped us come SEC tournament time, regional time and super regional time if we were able to get that far as his experience and bulldog attitude is something this team needs.
    But…..

I trust Sully and truly believe Sully knows or thinks Pogue as not a top 3 guy and will not improve much more. As it stands right now I have 3 returners in front of him to start and there are two that if they make it to campus would likely be ahead of him. Unfortunately Sully might not be able to wait 2 years for Pogue to regain his velo but I believe that narrative could be very well false anyway. Some say 18 months but Pogue is pretty close to that.
    Found a great article titled

Mixed results await pitchers after Tommy John surgery
Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine researchers analyzed subjects with an average age of 27.4 and an average “return to competition” time of 452 days. Using the pitch-tracking database PITCHF/x, the researchers found a pitcher’s release point and pitch movement, or “spin,” differed before and after surgery even though pitch selection did not.

They further identified that curveball movement increased while fastball and slider movement decreased. The researchers concluded “it is possible that pitchers extend their elbows less after UCL reconstruction as a protective mechanism.”

Sounds like us always hearing “they are even better and throw harder” is false and will occur with some but not all.
