Congrats to Bianco and Schlossnagle. Two great stories. What Bianco did as a three seed is incredible and great to see Elko record last out.

now we need Auburn and Arkansas to come through. Need an SEC champion.

 

Jeez- what a frustrating last few weeks. I was pleased with Gators bracket lining up with Va Tech, thinking that we would win the Regional. It burns me up to see Sooners moving on- when it very well could have been us. Still stings. One week ago tonight we witnessed a gutsy and masterful 9-inning performance from a Freshman pitcher Carsten Finnvold- after a grueling win in the afternoon game against a scrappy CMU team. Then Monday- a good start and slim lead when the rains came- and then on resumption it turned to ashes in a flash. It still stings. After SECT and the last month of wins, I felt we were a team with a good chance to get to Omaha. Seeing the Sooners move on makes it sting a bit more as we had them on the ropes.

That is correct- and I was in Grad school at UT-Austin, and enjoyed the series enormously. Longhorns had Clemons and Schiraldi and a ton of other talent at nearly every position. It was a hot and a wonderful weekend in Austin.

 

Watching Notre Dame take the series today I noticed the Vols even were classless in defeat. Did anyone notice during the Irish celebration on the infield diamond the Vols sent out their grounds crew and drove their John Deere right up behind the victory celebration and team photo. The Vols were pretending to put the tarp over the mound but instead they were sending a message to get off our plastic lawn. I mean they had no reason to send their grounds crew out their today because they had no game tomorrow or the next three months and the field isn't even real grass. Really poor taste of them parking their John Deere right behind the mass of players during their celebration. What harm is there letting the victors have their well deserved 20 minutes of fame and get the losers off the field, instead of hanging out in the outfield.

 

I thought they'd win it all.

Regardless UT had one amazing and record setting season.

I told my wife-- Slavens is going to hit the ball hard on the ground and win the game-- bingo. Take note Sully and Gators- you don't have to hit a tape measure job to win a game.
