Dave had been a good guy. Even tho we were very much on opposite sides of the aisle, he reached out to me wanting to get lunch if we were ever in the same town. It never worked out. But then he just decided to be contrarian and spent his time trying to push liberals' buttons. He even acknowledged that's why he was here, just to piss us off. Texigator was really active for a long time. A conservative who really had it in for Shabadoo. He'd periodically quote one of Shab's posts and say nothing but "More shabarrhea from Shabadoo" in big pink letters. One time he must have gone through the entire board and quoted every Shab post so the entire first page was filled with his big pink letters. "More shabarrhea from Shabadoo!"
I started lurking back in 2002 when I moved to Oregon for school for a year or so then Utah before returning to Florida. Gators ports message board and gatorcountry were my ways of staying connected back then. I remember at the time GSMB seemed more fun at the time as swampgas was pretty heavily moderated and "stuffy." I remember GSMB always had some juvenile quality to it but I don't remember it being as bad as it's current offshoot replacement by a different name. It's a shame because they have a couple of real knowledgeable football posters over there but the rest of it is trash. Now that I'm older I appreciate gatorcountry more although I do miss the days there was more even discourse on too hot. Too hot always had its extremists but the board is pretty one sided right now and the few opposing views seem to be hyperbolic oversimplified tantrums. As far as former members, I was not a fan of Mastoidbone who tended to denigrate public servants with his stance on their pay and benefits.
Pretty close. Gator Gus along with Solarie (RH) was one of the founders if I remember correctly? I used to dial up by phone in 1997. I would hear all kinds of a screeching noise while it was trying to connect. I’m old. Lol

One of the better threads! I have taken breaks. Certainly understand the exodus. Wish they would still post. I find it comical and ridiculous that people come to too hot and put people on ignore. They show how incapable they are of listening to the other side. The worst part of too hot and GC right now is that when the few who are not willing to listen to the other side do this it now makes it where the person they disagree with cannot always see the context of a thread because I can’t see what they post (we should still be able to see what they post regardless if they do not want to see what the other side posts). They are true Karen’s. At times I have debated hanging them up. But a core group here I do enjoy. Including those I disagree with. The ones that are not real Karen’s. One could argue the exodus is part of that. But the board really did not do a good job imo of policing. I know some will disagree with that. But that is my opinion. I have been close to joining them at times as using ignore is weak. But so far the core of Too Hot has held me in though I have taken time off at times from posting.
Trying to debate/learn with some people is pointless as their claims and positions are so obviously factually incorrect that they have no interest in reality. Those few get put on ignore because I am too weak to not reply to such bad misinformation. I put them on ignore for the same reason i don't try to teach a pig to sing. The pig is never going to learn and he isn't going to teach me anything
Ignore them and move on. Or GC should at least let us see what they post regardless of whether they are willing to engage. I will see posts that make no sense until I realize that someone who put me on ignore had posted and it was a response to that. Just because you believe you are factually right all the time. Does not make it so. Even when your convictions tell you so.
