indoors and outdoors are totally different, especially in the throwing events where uf is lacking, also some athletes who did not have indoor eligability will run outdoors
I follow track and I realize there are differences. Just busting your chops because it wouldn't be shocking to see the women win it especially with some of the things we have seen in the early going and we are not exactly flying under the radar with a #3 ranking.
We are currently ranked 2nd. Texas will be tough, they have entrants in several events that are predicted to score points… they are especially strong in the short sprints (100 meters, 200 meters), we don’t have anyone qualified in those events. They also have very good relay teams in both the 4x100 and 4x400… we are only running in the 4x400. I think it will come down to a combination of some of our lesser known competitors stepping up, and hopefully some below expected performances by the Texas women. ( Of course Anna Hall, Jasmine Moore, et al will have to perform to their potential). It may well not be decided until the 4x400 is completed. I believe we will win but Texas has a very, very good team.
This title still eludes the UF athletic program. Everything on the men’s side has a NC minus cross country. The women still need NCs in volleyball, basketball, cross country, outdoor track, and lacrosse.
parker valby in the 5000 might be a wild card, could get a couple of points, maybe more, the ncaa has her with the 2nd fastest qualifying time.
Women's trials are tonight. It doesn't decide anything but it sets the stage for Saturday. The men had their trials last night, and will have the finals Friday.
The women have positioned themselves nicely. Gabrielle Wilkinson was 12th time wise but advanced to the finals by placing 2nd in the first heat. Claire Bryant came through in the clutch with a 5th place finish in the LJ… Jasmine Moore won the LJ, Texas also had two women score, but UF out scored them in an event Texas was rated (point wise) better in… Bryant was not projected to score. It was a significant win for UF points wise, so was Gabrielle’s advancement to the finals. Vanessa Watson also qualified in the 400 meter hurdles along with Anna Hall. (Hall had the top qualifying time) The meet is far from a done deal but the women really had a good day Thursday.
Good analysis. I saw the men's trials but didn't see any projections. We got some guys through at least. Do you have any expectation or projection for the men?
We are going to need Fahnbulleh and Allison to have epic days today and get a little help from Willie and Vanover and the relay teams.
