The pickup of Ra Shaya Kyle, at 6'-6", excites me the most. I've said in the past, the difference I could still see between UF and the top teams in the SEC was at the interior positions. She should help narrow that gap.
Not only the post size, but we are getting more guards in the 6ft range. We have long seemed to be undersized against the elite teams at every position.
So this is sort of how I see the roster break down for next season... not necessarily who is starting...listed by class. I really like that there is some nice class separation happening. Technically only Zippy would be ineligible in 23/24 so a chance for a lot of players to return. 1. 5-7 Zippy Broughton (GR), 5-8 KK Deans (SR) 2. 5-9 Nina Rickards (SR), 5-9 Alberte Rimdal (SO) 3. 6-0 Leilani Correa (SR), 6-0 Jeriah Warren (SO), 6-1 Myka Perry (FR) 4. 6-3 Jordyn Merritt (JR), 6-3 Taliyah Wyche (SO), 6-3 Frieda Buhner (FR) 5. 6-4 Faith Dut (SR), 6-6 Rashaya Kyle (JR), 6-3 Tatyana Wyche (SO)
Would love to see more quality talented additions, with this current roster believe we can make some serious noise.
Wish the season would get here... cannot wait to see the new transfers. I have watched several highlights of Correa, and she is a scorer!
Is that because of the extra year resulting from the pandemic? I thought that the usual limit was 13.
I'm just guessing here, but it may be that more scholarships are allowed for women's sports in order to help colleges comply with Title IX. Football provides, what, 85 scholarships for men? (137 at Alabama, but that's another issue). That's a huge number, so schools have to achieve an equivalency to women in some way.
Buhner is one of the most experienced freshman we could sign. Should be in the rotation immediately. Don’t see her as third on positional depth chart for long.
not oter related but IMO good to see Greek Giving: Group of Gators Greece-Bound as Volunteers - Florida Gators
