Unacceptable..someone needs to talk to Biden about this. All that artillery we send wont last long without distance protection comparable to your opponent. If no long range missiles, where are missile defense systems to neutraluze all but hypersonic missiles?
Cnn live "Ukrainian official says Russians control "most of Severodonetsk" From CNN's Tim Lister and Kostan Nechyporenko Serhiy Hayday, the Head of Luhansk region military administration, says that Russian troops now control most of the city of Severodonetsk — but he has dismissed suggestions that Ukrainian troops in the area will be surrounded. "We are constantly communicating," he said. "There is an opportunity to maneuver, so the military is now calmly holding the defense in the positions they occupy now. The city at this stage has 90% of all houses damaged. Of these, 60% are almost impossible to restore. And all the critical infrastructure is completely destroyed." Hayday said: "Now there is no possibility to leave Severodonetsk. It's very risky and the chances are very small to actually escape [unharmed]. Therefore, there is simply no point in risking people's lives." Hayday added that the Russian goal was to surround all our troops. Of course, they would like to capture the entire Luhansk region much faster. Or just cut the route "Lysychansk - Bakhmut" or capture Severodonetsk as soon as possible. But they do not manage to capture the whole area." If Russian forces gain control of Severodonetsk, the neighboring city of Lysychansk will be the only urban area of any size in Luhansk to remain under Ukrainian control."
Cnn live "Zelensky welcomes new EU sanctions against Russia but calls the delay "unacceptable" ... Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday welcomed the new European Union sanctions package against Moscow, but criticized the bloc for the gap of more than 50 days between the fifth and sixth round of sanctions. "It's more than 50 days since the fifth package of sanctions, this is unacceptable for us," Zelensky said while addressing a joint new conference alongside Slovakian Prime Minister Zuzana Caputova in Kyiv on Tuesday. "
Cnn live "3 killed in Sloviansk as Russian forces continue missile strikes, Ukraine's presidency says From CNN's Tim Lister Russian forces have continued missile and aerial attacks against targets in the Donetsk region, where the Ukrainian military says there are "battles along the entire front line." The Ukrainian president's office said Tuesday that "there was an air strike on Sloviansk [overnight]. As a result, at least three people are dead and six were wounded. The school and seven high-rise buildings were damaged. Rescue work is underway, the number of victims and injured is being clarified." Sloviansk, a major target of the Russian offensive, has seen an uptick in indirect fire from Russian forces using missiles and aerial attacks. In the neighboring Luhansk region, 90% of which is now under Russian control, the president's office said that "the main efforts of the Russians are now focused on establishing control over Severodonetsk." It said that they were continuing attacks on several neighboring towns and two civilians were killed. "
And as usual, within a few posts someone put a picture from the idiot soldier in Iraq committing war crimes on a prisoner and told everyone to worry about Hiroshima/Nam/Afghanistan etc & to shut up. Whataboutism is everywhere. Russia won't catch anything for that. They'll just say it was mercenaries anyway. They've got the regular army ones red handed on war crimes in Ukraine and the UN won't do anything.
Lol ****side note - this having to go to reply, more options, then preview to be able to see most tweets is tedious *facepalm*. At least I can see *some* now instead of none like before though
Ice, it seems that the skis are bringing more weight and metal to the conflict. My biggest concern is Ukrainian numbers. It seems to have turned into a bloodletting campaign. While stories of ski soldier defections and Public apathy are encouraging, a drawn out, extended affair may not weigh in Ukrainian favor. I suppose the winner will be determined by some form of political intrigue or coop attempt by one side or the other, unless of course the conflict escalates to other nations.
They're so much bigger that the numbers were going to be in their favor. It was equipment given to Ukraine combined with sanctions but it's been too spread out, too much wavering (Germany), etc and the momentum is getting lost. I don't know that we'll see a coup...not enough people who could do it care about it right now. Maybe in a few more months but Russia's economy is holding on unfortunately so they're not feeling the amount of pain needed to force a change.
The Saudis have made up with Qatar and is holding talks with Iran in Iraq, Turkey is making nice with Egypt and signing gas deals with Russia, the UAE is ignoring American threats to withhold F35s and buying Chinese weapons. There's a whole lot of realignment going on in the middle east. Some of these developments are almost unthinkable just a couple of years back. They're preparing for a changing world order, one where the US pivots away from the ME toward Asia, if we can ever actually stop getting distracted along the way, that is.
China bans stolen aircraft from their skies. Surprised...these were all leased and Russia refused to return them. China Bans Most Russian Planes From Airspace Because They're Stolen
Apparently, Ukraine will be getting the MLRS rocket system after all. Biden admin to send Multiple Launch Rocket Systems to Ukraine in $40B aid package
