Then it will have to go through Romania and Poland all the way to Mediterranean ports. Unless we are willing to stand up to Russia and break their blockade with our own ships, nothing else is coming out of Ukraine by sea.

Germany? Their growing dependence and ties to Russia emboldened Putin

No, they have done more than I thought they would to help Ukraine, even changing their laws to do so. They also condemned Russia in the UN, which India refused to do. Germany is not doing enough, but they have not disappointed to the degree that India has.

No, we should not. We should do the opposite. The government should turn off farming subsidies and order maximization of food production. We are going to have to make up some of the delta for that Ukrainian grain that will not exist this fall until who knows when. This should have taken place at least a month ago along with maximizing our production of oil and natural gas to keep our allies in supply. We need to start mobilizing our economy like it’s 1940. We are wasting time.

Do you mean merchant ships to get the grain or warships to break the Russian blockade? I suppose the answer doesn’t matter because the result would be the same. They could send their merchant ships to Greek, Italian, Albanian et al ports to get the grain if that’s what you mean.

Biden would be smart to get rid of him.

Gotta agree with you. We're wasting too much time on partisanship and infighting.

I know. But that would have already happened by now if it was going to happen at all. He should have been on the thinnest of thin ice after he convinced the President to listen to him and not his generals regarding Afghanistan. The week Russia invaded Ukraine should have seen his resignation.

Usually. But I think if the President had asked Congress for the economic measures I described, they would have passed it. Sure, 10% on each extreme would have objected, stating one reason and meaning another, but on the whole I think the people’s representatives would support the decisions. This one is on the Executive Branch.

Agree with all of this. I would lead by example and use my example to push others to do the same. The west should be flexing their combined SPR's right now comfortable that the volumes can be contracted for replacement within 36 months

Forgot, I would find a way to force big ag to provide GMO seed at cost to third world countries and reduced rates elsewhere. The yield per acre and drought/disease tolerances are considerable but many cant afford the seed
