I guess it all comes down to the definitions you use. There’s no denying this chick is overweight - you could also call her “fat”. But “obese” to me describes something more extreme than this.

Our society is an enigma — while we are overweight on average, there’s also a ridiculous obsession with skinny, which to me looks less desirable than mildly overweight. “Obese” to me takes it to the gross level.

 

The "gross" level is "morbidly obese." It's not a common term, but one i'm more familiar with given that i work in cardiology. I'm gonna stop now though, cause every time i read this thread i get annoyed that there are 4 pages of off topic stuff, and i feel bad for having contributed lol.
