Just an FYI - Florida State only has 3 players who can't return next year - third baseman Sydney Sherrill, their #2 pitcher Danielle Watson and a seldom used utility player named Bethany Keen. They have 2 signee pitcher coming in next year, one of them a big time recruit named Madi Balk, plus a SS who is the 40th rated player in the nation and a catcher who is rated the #73 player. While Florida is a very young team, so are the Noles and they are not going anywhere in the national ranking anytime soon. Our program needs to step it up in the offseason in order to catch up.
I take back what I said. UCF just run ruled USF 11- 0 for the championship. Maybe that victory will give them a national seed.
Don't think so. They probably deserve it, but I just don't see them giving 3 Florida teams a Regional host. Plus beating USF doesn't help their RPI.
Playing better teams, especially teams who have a tougher schedule. Playing and winning a good percentage of games vs. Top 25 teams. USF's RPI is #38, so UCF, at #16 RPI doesn't help itself much at all by beating them. Plus the fact that USF only has 1 quality pitcher and she had the day off because she had thrown 5 games in a row. Also, UCF's Strength of Schedule is only #44, USF's is #92. Some of that is not their fault based on their conference schedule. But UCF has done a better job of finding some tougher opponents than USF. And example would be comparing Tennessee & Florida. UF's record is 43-16, UT 39-16, but the Vols are probably going to be a Top 8 seed because they have the #10 RPI ranking and #1 SOS, compared to UF's #12 RPI ranking and #15 SOS.
I agree. I'll take Oklahoma and give odds. Oklahoma lost today but their ace did not pitch because she has a sore arm.
Oklahoma did not lose because of their pitching today. They lost because their bats did not wake up against good pitching. If their bats go cold during post season, they can very well lose as they showed today. I DON'T think Oklahoma wins it all this year.
Her play and instincts were fine -- if there had been two outs. On the positive side for her, none of the runs she let score were her responsibility.
Did you see CTW's postgame remarks? During his answer to the 1st question he said "we hit the ball well". What game was he watching?
Tim is protecting his best buddy Aric as he has done for the last 3 years. Until he or SS make a decision Aric will continue to produce very average results at the plate. We hit average pitchers and struggle mightily against the better pitchers.
yep, Hogs are one of a couple that have a chance at beating OU in a series. UCLA, FSU maybe the other 2. Id still take OU over field though. My wildcard is VT, just havent seen enough to know.
I don't know enough to say whether a different coach could get more out of the players or whether things are what they are. But have you noticed that with almost every single batter, he comes out of the dugout and interrupts their warm-up in the on-deck circle with some last second advice? Personally, I'd find that distracting as I'd be trying to get in the zone.
