I found about $20k for my current client/employer, and maybe $200 for the guy I report to. People forget to put company names in there. I found about $100 for one of the kids therapist and $90 for wife’s employer.

I need to think of a way to monetize this!

My wife had less than $100 from Hallmark. Didn’t specify the amount. The business my dad and uncle owned about 10 years ago had a few with an unknown amount. Dad passed away last year but my uncle is still alive.

Years ago I found that the state was holding 1/4 of a share of stock in a company that I worked for one summer while at UF. Over the years with splits it had grown to a decent amount. Claimed it and bought a new compound bow.

I just did a search and what came up was unclaimed property with no details. The property in question was the house that I sold 20 year ago. Seems strange since that house has sold multiple times since I sold it. I guess i'll fill out paperwork which I guess will let me know what the deal is here.

That’s wild! I have never heard of the unclaimed property being other than money. When a company owes you money, if they can’t find you after seven years (I think in most states) they have to turn that money over to the state. In the past the state just absorbed that money, but then someone I think sued and that’s why we now have these unclaimed property sites.

Your case sounds interesting. Please let us know what it turns out to be.

I hope somehow you still own the house through some crazy shenanigans

Could be an escrow account or something tied to it.

that’s interesting. I thought they typically liquidated the stock when escheated.

For the record I discovered this site about 8 years ago and found out I was owed something from my dad's estate. It ended up being like $85 it would have been split amongst 4 beneficiaries. So I never even felt like doing the paperwork for $20. I have to get the signatures of all the beneficiaries and nobody lives in the same city

They might have done that, because they sent me money not a stock certificate. But I think they appreciated the value in line with what the stock did. Or they sold it when I claimed and then gave me the money. No way 1/4 sh was worth $480 when I worked there 25 years earlier.
