It shows 4-0 but that was a much tighter match than that, though never truly in doubt.
Vale I guess wanted some excitement. He was up 4-1 and two breaks in the second, it got back to 5-4, Vale had 2 match points on his serve and lost them both. Then at 5 all he had 3 break points to go up 6-5 and serve for it, lost all three. Then held and won the tiebreak.

North Carolina's doubles teams were very good. I was impressed with them in doubles warmup and they didn't disappoint during doubles play. They had four seniors in their lineup and every one of them fought like crazy except at number one singles. Good win by our guys and they were very emotional after the match. This was the last time they will ever compete on the Ring tennis center and there were many sentimental tears after the match, coaches included.

Great wrap to their home careers for the seniors. Congrats to all
Coach, any thoughts on my perception that Andrade isn't quite clicking? Anything you have noticed with his game? And do you think it's Siimar till the end, or might coach try Nate?

Of course I have opinions on the topics you brought up, but I am not on the court with these young men and offer no opinions to the coaches as to how to handle the multitude of situations all coaches deal with daily. I am lucky to be close enough to the program to know what is going on, but my task is to write the Gator Men's Tennis Booster newsletters to all of our tennis boosters and former Gator men's lettermen.
I am about to write my thoughts and wrap up to these two groups this morning. Andy Andrade was as animated and into the match last night as I have seen him. At the moment the match was clinched by Duarte Vale, Andrade was making an amazing comeback in his number four singles match. Andy sometimes gets a bit impatient when he faces players whose game mirrors his own. What I mean by that is that when he faces a steady opponent he tends to go for too much at times. However, he is such a veteran, he usually realizes what is happening and with the help of our coaches rectifies the situation. I have no doubt that if Andrade's match was needed to win last night, he would have found a way to come our with a W. He is best when playing an opponent who is aggressive and goes for shots. In that type of match Andy can use the pace off his opponent's racket to create some amazing replies. As far as the lineup is concerned, I never tell the coaches what I think is best, as I am not at practice every day. I think the present lineup will be what coach sticks with for the remainder of the tournament. The reason is that all of the players on court have either four or five years of college tennis experience. In Siimar's case he like Andrade was on his way back to evening his match. Mattias is best when he hits out and goes for his shots, rather than just returning balls at a safe pace the entire match. Of course Coach Shelton could decide to go with a different lineup moving forward, but I think he will stay with what we currently have and let the chips fall where they may. Our opponent next Thursday in Illinois is Virginia. A team we beat indoors at the National Indoor Tournament in February. In my opinion we will be just fine. That does not mean we will blow through the rest of the tournament, but I know these guys well enough to know it will take a herculean effort by an opponent to unrail this Gator team.
