Obviously. It would be normal for one growing up in Russia to not hate Russia during the Cold War ….

After all the rhetoric, we finally found someone who actually hates America.

I try not to put people on ignore but I agree. I don't block him but I don't respond to his delusions. Those types think they always have something figured out the rest of the world doesn't. Then they move the goal posts when their proclamations don't come to fruition. They are the same people who think every video is staged or faked. It's never the straighter line of reasoning.

The dude is reprehensible and not worth responding to.

That’s pretty cool … what happens if you set a Russian tank to spin cycle? Does the turret spin off.

While we’re at work today, let’s remind ourselves that we’re working hard for Raytheon.

A lot of the posters on here lived through the cold war, and saw after the fall of the Soviet Union just how much BS propaganda we were fed during it, yet they still think everything we're told by our government and media is true.

Funny I didn't see Sweden liberating any concentration camps. Selling iron ore to the Nazi war machine is okay I suppose. Yeah try that one again.

Yeah and Europe sat on its hands while the Nazis armed and began putting their own people in camps first in the 30s. It's name was Dachau 1933-1945.
Chelmno in Poland began operations in Dec of 1941.The majority of death/concentration camps began in the 1941 time frame. Were any Allied countries capable of invading and stopping death camps prior to the Normandy invasion?

But yeah Sweden gets a pass for having a vibrant Nazi Party during the war years and providing them the vital Iron ore for weapons production. Sweden could've stopped exporting at any time. But no. They have blood on their hands.

Once again speaking only for myself, I would agree that we're only seeing part of the story. For example, we very seldom hear about likely atrocities committed by Ukrainian troops. That being said those atrocities are minuscule compared with the war crimes committed by the Russians, and should never forget that it was Putin started the war. I would also agree that we almost never hear about the scale of Ukrainian military casualties although again Russian casualties far outnumber Ukrainian casualties and it's still somewhat miraculous considering that the Ukrainians are outgunned and outnumbered by the (fortunately incompetent) Russian military. I think the argument can even be made that the far right background of the Azov Regiment is very seldom mentioned while they're being portrayed as heroic for the stand against overwhelming odds at the Azovstal steel mill.

All of the that being said and despite the slant, the media coverage as well as the official statements from the US and other NATO governments has still been largely accurate. Some facts are undeniable. First, the war was an act of Russian aggression, essentially part of Putin's agenda to restore the influence and reestablish the sphere of influence of the former Soviet Union/Russian empire. Secondly, the Russians have been targeting civilians, both through their indiscriminate and often intentional shelling and bombing of Ukrainian cities including civilian schools, residential buildings and healthcare facilities, as well as war crimes in which Russian soldiers have shot unarmed civilians; and finally, the Ukrainians have, in fact, been largely successful in their battles with Russian military units.

no it wasn't okay. that was then, this is now. If they were circumventing sanctions to get parts to Russia now I would be right with you

Politics makes strange bedfellows, nations do not have friends, they have interests, and if the litmus test were for a nation to be as pure as the driven snow we wouldn't interact with any foreign countries. That being said there is not moral equivalency regarding this war that Russia is conducting against Ukraine. The 40 billion we are getting ready to spend is far cheaper than the alternative of waiting until Vlad as overrun the Baltics and beyond.

Part II on why the US can’t stop Russia ...

Russian school kids are groomed for war.

American school kids are, well, groomed.
