Not sure DF is a defensive replacement but otherwise think you're spot on.

Nick Pogue has been brought about slowly due to rehab from Tommy John surgery in early 2021. Jac Caglionone had TJ surgery last summer was just cleared to be put in the batting order a couple of weeks ago. He's also a pitcher and 1st baseman, but my guess they're still being cautious with his throwing, so he's relegated to DH status for now. Milchin has been a Gator since 2017, but missed 3 years due to surgeries/injuries/rehab. He contributed some last year, but less this year with only 14.1 innings pitched. He's an inspiration in the dugout and a team guy. Apparently it took Jameson a while to gain the confidence of the coaches, but he's done pretty well in the few chances he's been given of late. Not aware of any injuries. Abner has been effective in short spurts. He's been in 20 games but only thrown 18.1 innings and locating his pitches has been a problem. He was a highly-touted recruit, (#67 player & #6 LHP in the nation coming out of high school), but it seems like he'll be used mainly for left on left match-ups from here on out. I think they expect a big jump in his performance next season. Finnvold is probably done for the year, not having pitched since March 26.

Halter has made some pretty dang good defensive plays so far in his time at third and has plenty of arm strength to make his plays.

Just to play Devil’s advocate, he has also had two errors on the last out of the game (one was at 2B to be fair).

As a rule though, I agree he has played well at 3B.

Pogue is in recovery from a second Tommy John surgury IIRC.

Caglionone is recovering from a first TJ surgery. I think he has more value pitching than being every day. I think of him like another Brad Wilkerson, but potentially better.

    Milchin is another guy recovering.

Manning has an amazing curve ball that he couldn't throw for strikes. Lots of talent but maybe the bench will be his best coach.

We will get back to you as soon as we figure it out? Sully's still in the same boat as well. I figure we should get you an answer about mid June.

Actually Armstrong is replacing KC at first, and he is not a freshman. Zac C is probably replacing Guscette at DH I suppose.
Still perplexed by Armstrong's plate struggles, deserves some ABs, but doesn't seem to be an upgrade to me.

But, yea the 2 freshmen have been difference makers.

When Armstrong comes to bat, he puts a lot more fear into a pitcher than KC. Now....he must produce, but must be left in lineup for next two weeks.

Fear? Maybe last year, but not this year. Hitting .228 with 6 rbis does not scare many.
Hope that changes soon if he is in the lineup. Either way, need more production out of that position.

As he said gotta be left in the line up for a few weeks. Let him get 15-20 at bats. Hard to develop any true rhythm or plate approach with 3 at bats every 4 weeks.

I asked 3 scouts who I know pretty well and all 3 said should be the starter vs KC. Take it for what it's worth. KC had his chance.

If that's the case who do the scouts says all of our starters in the field should be? Inquiring minds want to know. Asking for a friend, first name Kevin.

Have no problem with Armstrong being in the lineup, but he makes me a little nervous at 1st.

Hopefully there is enough added value from him offensively to offset it. If he can run into a 3 run homer every now and again we can live with an occasional error.

UF baseball (#12 RPI, #2 SOS) won their 30th game of the season and 5th in a row Tuesday night, beating Bethune-Cookman 7-0 behind the 5 hit pitching of Tyler Nesbitt (4), Nic Ficarrotta (4) and Blake Purnell (1). Nic Fic was exceptional in his 4 innings, only allowing 1 hit with ^ K's. The Gators only got 7 hits for the game, led by Sterlin Thompson (2-4, 2 RBI) and Josh Rivera (2-4, 1 RBI). Wyatt Langford had 4 walks and a HR, while Jac Caglionone and Ty Evans each went 1-3. The Gators travel to Missouri for a vital weekend series as they try to work themselves, not only into getting an NCAA tournament bid, but possibly a Regional host.
