Actually, I read the entire exchange and it doesn’t seem that bad. From what I gather, his point is simply that we shouldn’t be sending dignitaries over to Ukraine for photo ops if Russia believes we are helping Ukraine with specific targeting information (which we deny, which of course we would deny) and validating Russia’s fear that we are in a de facto war with them via proxy. It sounds to me like he supports the aid to Ukraine, just not giving Russia political targets that, intentionally or unintentionally, Russia might harm and bring us deeper into conflict. I disagree with the Senator. I think the state visits are a critical part of the informational aspect of this war, and it is right that some of our politicians share the risk. It is Russia that needs that needs to stand out of our way, not the other way around.
