Going to a situation where he has a full year of starting experience and some valuable bench experience with UF and no one on ASU roster at QB has starting game experience. Some QBs improve from year 1 to 2 if starting. Our WRs were not good last year. No Toney, Pitts or Grimes back there. Wish him well.
I guess there are a couple ways to answer that. Yes, the 2021 Gators were so bad that we fired our coach and finished below .500, counting the bowl game. Yes, the QB Whisperer Dan Mullen failed so badly with Emory Jones that EJ might succeed in a different offense. Yes, the Gators were so bad that with EJ as starter the team looked pathetic against the otherwise mediocre to okay teams.
Call me crazy, but I would not feel bad at all. There is a risk with NIL’s legalized pay-for-play. I would have felt fine paying for Emory Jones because he was a good Gator, but an okay quarterback. He did his best and it was not enough. I do not think that in this era of pay-for-play that us throwing $50 a year into the Gator Collective buys us much. I would hope that it would have bought me a vote on starting QB, but after seeing how quickly the Gator Guard can raise money and win influence I realize that what really matters is what the big donors are willing to pay for. Us poor people donating to the Gator Collective are paying for the players’ video game consoles. The rich people donating through the Gator Guard are paying for the vote that determines who the starter is (after they have paid the kid to choose UF over another school). The big donors are the ones who win or lose money depending on the success of their investment. In that regard, I got my money’s worth out of Emory Jones. I got his best effort when the coach trotted him out as the starter. Otherwise he is a good kid and a good Gator.
Wr room is true but Trask starting made all the difference in the world for those guys. All of the sudden , they were open on every play. AR had a bit of that effect last year also. I’m interested in seeing how this receiving core looks if we have a qb capable of getting them the ball.
That's the reasonable and sane attitude but I think we will see more of the NFL attitude towards the players in college especially with the publicity of the NIL deals. We all know some are getting large amounts of money to win football games and for no other reason so if they don't win it could get ugly for them.
It got ugly for EJ at times and he may or may not have had benefits. Bad play is going to bring criticism whether they are paid or not. Most of us have a lot of respect for EJ. He did his best and represented the school well.
We will probably never know how much Trask vs the receivers had to do with the performance in that game but trying to ascribe blame to Trask or the recievers is a bit unfair given the lack of practice time they had together. Jones had an off season, preseason and regular season together to try and get better. Trask had a few weeks with a checked out coach and a completely different lineup. Richardson seemed to get more out of the receiving group than Jones when you factor he had less reps and experience with that same group. It will be interesting to see if we have a serviceable passing game this year now that Richardson will have more experience with mostly the same group as before.
Just watching the video breakdowns after each game, there were open receivers all last season. The called plays were getting receivers open, but the execution of those plays wasn’t happening. Emory would either not recognize the open receiver in time, lock onto a single receiver/route, or throw the ball late and/or with the wrong trajectory. Just like our offense with Franks, if the QB cannot make the proper reads in time, it limits the offense and makes the receivers look bad. AR seemed like he had a better idea of where to go with the ball and made quicker decisions. Sure he had a bad game against UGA, but his lack of playing time before that game may have played a role. Some of the personnel decisions last year were puzzling, and I can’t wait to see how the players look next year under a new scheme. Hopefully we don’t switch RBs just for the sake of switching and ride the hot hand.
GNFP videos were pretty damming in that regard. I try to take highlight videos with a grain of salt because it's easy to make someone look good or bad with a few clips but they were pretty thorough in their breakdowns for each QB
Their mascot is the Sun Devil. He carries a fork. "Fork's Up!" is an expression they use just like us when we say "Go Gators!" They also us a hand gesture - just as we use a chomp - to express enthusiasm for our team.

they did seem more open, but there were times when KT threaded that ball, and Pitts made some amazing catches. That dude had a radius.
