There was a funny quote & I'll need to find it. But the gist of it was that the US can't ever turn into Gilead (the country in Handmaids Tale). Because in Gilead they have to provide free care and housing for the pregnant woman.

So....let the mother die? Let the other babies die? Let the rape victim die? How tolerant of you. And here I thought the Taliban were the real intolerant group on the planet. Who, by the way, allow for abortion up to 18 weeks.

Guess the American Taliban really is a thing, and growing.

Edit - and I'm done with this. It's one thing to have a conversation it's another to be this inflexible and frankly downright wrong. Have a nice day and may you never be judged as harshly as how you judge women.

No right to privacy. After this opinion, Griswold is not good law. Up to the states

How about we investigate you for scaring women with your insanity and inducing stress based miscarriages.

A few dozen life sentences ought to do it.

After all, we have to do everything we can to protect the most innocent.

After this decision (if issues in this form) there is no right to privacy. Nor does HIPPA make it hard to investigate crimes. Oh, and dir process? No doctor is going to preform an abortion to save the life of the mother even for a non viable fetus because that doctor won’t risk prosecution.

Many abortions are, but not all abortions.

Wait, what? You think "many," abortions are done with "malicious aforethought?"

That being said it was meant to be a work of fiction, not a documentary.

So are living wills, euthanasia, assisted suicide, self defense and capital punishment.

    what’s your point?

I think every abortion is a terrible thing. I think that far too many abortions are just birth control. I think that ending a life because you didn't plan and prepare ahead of time is evil.

I also recognize that many abortions are the least bad outcome. I can't see a way of writing abortion laws that would prevent elective abortions and still allow abortions that are needed. I can accept some people getting what they want, although I think it is an evil, so that other people can get what they need.

She'd be charged with homicide. Or she'd died along with her babies.

I'd change this because not all Republicans are in the same frame, so I'll say "some". Considering Texas & Louisiana, etc? How far off does this sound?

The real reason (in case this hasn't been posted)...btw the purpose of the Handmaids was breeding. So...

And nevermind how many thousands of kids are in foster care & age out without adoption. So no there isn't a shortage of adoptable kids. Just not the kind some want.

I like how Alito’s argument is rights conferred to the people need to be in “deeply rooted history” (which I guess is an argument as to how to justify ignoring prior legal precedent, a judge can rationalize activism on practically anything by arbitrarily deeming what is or isn’t “deeply rooted”)

This Barret line of argument seems to have nothing whatsoever to do with the law… just “we need a supply of domestic infants”, whatever that means. So those women are forced to go through pregnancy. She’s describing the infants like an economist might describe a commodity product. Handmaidens tale indeed.
