Millions of us viewing virtually all occurrences through the lens of a left/right “us or them” battle is a dangerous state of affairs indeed. I still don’t believe a civil war is coming, but I do believe that this is the kind of path we’d have to follow to get there.
I was wondering about the implications of a fetal heartbeat bill. If a detected heartbeat is proof that the being is still alive, then can a person be charged with homicide by pulling the plug on a brain dead patient that still has a beating heart forcing the relatives/state to continue with its medical care?
I think it will take a lot more than this to get to civil war, and I don't think we live in a time when anyone except for a few nutcases at either end of the spectrum have any appetite for actual war, more likely a dissolution of the union. But we are definitely going to see much bigger differences between the states going forward. Several years ago I was looking for a new job and my wife had zero interest in looking outside the state. Next year we have a window for moving, if we don't move then we will likely stay where we are until we die, and my wife has been actively suggesting considering moving outside of Florida.
For those who don't know, an IUD is an implanted birth control device. You know, for those claiming they weren't going to go after contraceptives. "Don't want a baby? Use contraceptives". State makes contraceptives illegal "Well then don't have sex". Men don't like being told "no" and sexual assaults increase. Victim gets pregnant. Goes to another state. Gets abortion. Gets charged & convicted, serves more time than the rapist. Gives birth in prison, rapist sues for custody of baby. And none of you who are for this decision see that? Because the first parts are already happening. So are women being ridiculous or "hysterical" as someone posted further back?
Need a WOW emoji for this. It may not pass but it does let the rest of us know what’s in their minds.
Also, IUDs just like other birth control is also used to control painful endometriosis, cramping, excess bleeding, etc. Some women can barely FUNCTION from how much pain they're in or the severe bleeding. Sometimes a thick pad AN HOUR soaked in blood. Again this is all about CONTROL and zero to do with women's health or even the baby's health.
If you are going to be against abortions, you can't also be against all the things that reduce abortions. Humans look for patterns, and the very clear pattern in being against abortions and against the things that reduce abortions is control over women. Decide which is more important, reducing abortion or controlling women, and then work to achieve whichever goal is more important to you.
Reminder that the death penalty is still legal in Louisiana, and that one of the included offenses for where it can be used is treason.
The small percent who may dream for this doesn't speak for the entire right. No more than the few on the far left don't speak for the whole left.
I'm sure some of the more ardent pro-lifers will welcome that a mother who miscarried that can't prove it WASNT intentional could face the death penalty. Blessed Be.
