Why can there not be a death penalty?

Forget religion. Think law. One cannot harm an innocent life. The death penalty the innocence question is gone (although you can argue a cruel punishment here). Abortion the question is simply, is it life? One does not have to be religious to think life begins at conception, and one does not have to be an atheist to think it begins when it takes its first outside breath.

Glad to hear that if my family member ever needs a kidney, I can use this argument as grounds to force you to provide one of your own.

Oh wait, I can't do that?

That this is surprisingly underappreciated angle to all of this. The duty to rescue, etc. So rarely identified as a substantial part of the legal analysis over this issue. You are dead on

Luckily not being legally allowed to physically harm another living human is a *fairly* codified right

**Certainly not absolute. See vaccine mandates

You think it would really change anything when we can’t even pass common sense gun restrictions when dozens of children get murdered?

You know why America is falling off a cliff when half the country is primarily focused on killing unborn babies and teaching elementary tranny sex ed. It's absolutely shocking to be honest that this is where we are in society.

The fact that you keep bringing up vaccine mandates makes clear that you are either unwilling or incapable of actually reviewing a topic to understand it. Or that your arguments are in bad faith.

Whatever the truth, whether from ignorance or subterfuge, it paints your arguemnts in this thread as suspect.

Not taking a vaccine costs potential lives. Aborting a fetus costs a potential life. Your logic is flawed. You're not pro-life. You're pro-birth.

To make a baby, you need an egg & sperm. So since the egg is part of making that life, when a woman sheds an egg during her cycle, is she committing abortion? Because she's getting rid of life. Half of one but a life.

Oh that's ridiculous some will say. Well life starts at the very beginning. A woman's period gets rid of half of that. That's where some of you are at. Forget viability or anything like that. All that matters is the building blocks.

And yes as I've argued they'll absolutely come after contraceptives using the SAME argument about when life begins.

I was thinking about this today, there one other possibility on the leak. A Kavanaugh type, who has genuinely seems to look at things relatively rationally, might want to overturn, but wants to see how bad the public reaction is before he signs off. He knows there will be other cases over the years they can take up if the country isn’t ready for it now.
Then there the Chief Justice, who would likely side with the liberals if it were 4-4, either trying to prepare the country for what’s coming, or trying to pressure one semi wavering person when they see the reaction.
My bet is still on Breyer though - he doesn’t care at this point and has little to lose.

It's not a question of rights vs. rights. It's a question of the rights of the woman vs. the government's interests. One can validly say that the government has a compelling interest in protecting lives. But at what point does that interest become compelling? In my mind, not until viability. Until that point, you don't have a life. You have a potential life.

Vaccine mandates destroys the argument of bodily autonomy. The argument that you couldn’t go to prison is absurd as that implies you’d be okay with abortion restrictions and hurdles provided it doesn’t include prison time.

You are either for bodily autonomy (drug use, vaccines, abortions) or you are not. You can’t pick and choose.

And if you aren’t for full bodily autonomy as a right you can still be pro late term abortion… you just can’t use bodily autonomy as your argument.

Sperm are lives too. Looks like we better start charging people who masturbated with mass murder.

Breyer just wrote a book defending this broken institution. I am confident he's not the one who did it. He's an institutionalist, unfortunately. I agree with the law professors who are theorizing that a conservative clerk did it to try and lock in the majority. In any case, I couldn't care less about who leaked it.

Many who are against Roe are still perfectly fine with early term abortion. Myself included.

Just like not everyone for abortion is okay with aborting a 8.9 month fetus

Lol. You think most abortions happen because married couples have a pill that didnt work?

If you don't think that most abortions happen because of people being careless or at least knowing they can just abort then you are fooling yourself.

    You havent taught me anything.

The truth is, most abortions aren't just due to an accidental pregnancy where a married couple was using normal contraception.

My 98% number is based on the abortions that would not fall into the rape exclusions.

You can add another couple % for the mothers wellbeing.

Heck, water it down to 50%. Thats still a plethora of waisted human life.

    Appreciate your post.
To clarify, I have always maintained a rape exclusion is needed. Any omitting was unintentional.
