I did see where the Ukies are holding up so well that they’re welding machine guns to pickup trucks and getting around on mopeds.

Is Russia trying to establish an empire, or are they content to beat Ukraine, and come out a 'third world shit hole', with dick to show for it, other than the equivalent of a 2" plastic trophy and useless Ukranian land, rendered useless by their own destructiveness?

B/c at the rate they're going in Ukraine, they'll come out worse than the ol' USSR after Afghanistan, with about as much to show for it.

You remember the aftermath of that, no?

    (Apparently Putin does not....).

Welcome to the 21st century. There are toilets AND cameras much to the surprise of the Russians it seems.

So … no update on Russian casualties? Is that because they aren’t telling you, or because it’s too embarrassing to post here?

I like the spin, though, on why it’s taking you so long to march across a country that, like, belongs to you, full of secret Russians oppressed by Nazis. You’re playing with them … as a cat does with a mouse. Just casually taking your time, stacking up casualty rates unheard of in 80 years, allowing Western outrage to build to a tipping point, and alarming your Chinese ally that had its own now doubtful-looking timeline. Personally, I think it’s brilliant.

I believe the video you are referencing turned out to be a computer game, it fooled me at first as it looked pretty real at a glance.

Ukraine has obviously had some successes, but apparently a number of the videos were faked from ARMA3.

Yeah I remember that one. Both sides use propaganda & to an extent everyone does. There's a difference between propaganda meant to raise morale versus propaganda to hide war crimes.

For instance there video of a woman claiming to be an evacuee from the plant and the translation says that they were housed in cages by the Azov Battalion and forbidden to leave. Over her shoulder are 2 DPR (separatist) soldiers fully armed, watching her.

However posters who understood debunked the cage translation saying just kept underground. Also what she said was that they'd been unable to leave due to the constant shelling. CNN & others confirmed that portion.

So I take the "oh Russia loves us and only wants peace" with a grain of salt when videos have caught them bringing in sympathizers to pose as regular Ukranians, staging humanitarian aid for propaganda videos, folks saying things at gunpoint, etc. Big difference.

I’d rather he kept reporting back how much the Americans are mocking the Russian way of war these days.

"Casualties in missile attack against Odesa, military says

From Tim Lister and Julia Presniakova

A missile was fired Monday at "one of Odesa's infrastructure facilities," said Maksym Marchenko, head of the Odesa region military administration.

"Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded," he said.

Separately, the Ukrainian military's Command South reported, "Another missile strike in the Odesa region. There were hits to the city infrastructure. In particular, one of the religious buildings was damaged. Information about the victims is being clarified."

A journalist in Odesa told CNN an Orthodox church had been hit near the civilian airport. "

    Respectfully disagree.

This thread consists of like 25 posters piling on for Ukr...i somehow appreciate the one lonesome voice taking up for Russia (...and confirming how little Russia has going for it in this mess).

Kinda like devil's ad doesn't actually exist to advocate for the devil as much as to test the strength of the saint's case, by exposing it to scrutiny to see how well it holds up.

I’d agree if there was any integrity in the voice of opposition here. There’s none, and it is plainly unbridled, insulting propaganda.

Right. But how can you ever know exactly how ridiculous and insultingly stupid the Russian position is if you don’t read what their agents write on here. As I’ve said, we should just be honored that our little thread rates its own agent.

Well, i dont really question his sincerity, and there's a fair amount of truth in his posts. E.g.--Ukraine is objectively, taking a world class beating. But that doesn't necessarily mean Russia is winning. What are they winning? What's this victory Russia can claim?

...and even if they do conquer ukr, what's going to be left of Russia, that the *win* might mean anything?

Ruining your own nation to ruin anothers, wouldn't seem to satisfy anyone's definition of success.

...but all that said...UKR is taking a beating.
