I'm old enough and heard them...my one grandmother was born in 1920. That's what I was saying about manufacturing and whether this presented an opportunity to begin ramping up production before it becomes an issue. I would hope someone's tracking our own supplies & planning accordingly. Then again it's the government. Doesn't matter who is in office the idiocy sometimes is astounding. (Dad worked for the FAA). Since we're not the only ones giving aid (unlike WW2 since everyone else was already fighting) I don't know that we'd reach that level. But the government needs to ramp up production for sure.
2 of dad's buddies from Nam that are in way better shape were trying to figure out getting over there. Said even if they won't let them fight directly they can find some way to help.

Ukraine can’t afford a tenth of what has been given to them. Just the latest 33 billion dollar offer by the US is 20 percent of their annual GDP. It would be an equivalent of around a 4 trillion dollar gift to us. but the larger question is this, and one I raised at the start of the war. What’s our real goal and how Machiavellian do we want to be? If we can bleed Russia dry in a long protracted war without having to send US troops, eliminate Russia as a short, medium and maybe even long term threat, get Putin ousted and unite the west to the point Europe is finally picking up their expected military tab, and maybe even drive a wedge between China and Russia, how much is that worth to us in dollars today?
In my opinion, it is worth every dollar we send them and every soldier we don't have to send to fight that war with Russia. This war between Ukraine and Russia has also exposed Russia's military to our intelligence services and war planners.
And somewhere, some Q/Trumper/Other far right folks here in the US would be cheering for Russia to take them out. *facepalm*
I like the idea of funding these gifts from the money we are liberating from the Oligarchs. I would also rather pay more taxes then bury more American boys.
