Tim Walton and his staff are just clueless. How do you put two hitters in the starting lineup hitting under .200? And yet your 3rd best hitter in SEC play can't start or pinch hit? What has he been doing this year? Also, sorry but Pittman is not an SEC level pitcher.
This team is boring and painful to watch. Out hit 15 - 2 tonight and run ruled 2 of the last five games. I'm sorry to say but they do not deserve to host a regional game.
SEC teams know that after they get past Echols it's downhill and pitch accordingly. When CTW goes to Pittman it usually means he has conceded the game. My 7 year old granddaughter's SB games are more exciting.
Gator softball got run ruled 9-1 in 6 innings by LSU, as we looked pitiful both in the circle and at the plate. UF only got singles from Katie Kistler and Charla Echols, plus 2 walks to Echols and another to Skylar Wallace, as the were dominated by a good but not great LSU pitcher, Ali Kilponen. Meanwhile Elizabeth Hightower gave up 2 singles and a double to the first 3 batters she faced, then a 2-out, 2 run single to put Florida down 3-0 in the first inning. She only lasted 3 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits with only 2 K's. Haley Pittman threw the rest of the way, 2.2 innings, giving up 5 runs on 10 hits, a walk and only 2 K's. Hopefully, Gator batters will wake up Saturday at noon and Lexie Delbrey, I assume, can pitch better than what we saw tonight. That stunk, folks!
Agree. The first 1/3 of the season there was production up and down the lineup and the pitching was solid. Every phase of the game has gotten weaker as the season has progressed. Except for Skylar Wallace, no one is consistently reliable.
If we don't host a regional and get slaughtered in the SEC tournament it wouldn't surprise me if TW might say he has had enough and resign. I hope that doesn't happen but if it does Beth Torina ( ex Gator softball player) would not be a bad replacement.
