Well the broad market is down 15% from its peak so his claim is certainly plausible. And a few of the FAANG stocks have taken a beating

Market as a whole is down just less than 7% over the last 5 days, which is what a lot of the big tech stocks are down as well. 18% is a lot worse than 7%. Markets are jumpy about this, partially for the reasons you outlined (pulling attention from a profitable business to run a business that never really has been profitable).

Interestingly, you can still buy Twitter stock and gain a pretty big payoff if the deal goes through. Suggests that markets are still not sure whether this actually happens, although they do seem more confident in it than they were prior to this week.

I wonder if we are seeing something similar to 2000. Prior to the 2000 crash the final market surge was driven primarily by some big tech and big cap names and much of the rest of the market was tame. Then those eventually tanked but the rest of the market somewhat held up. Then later the broad markets tanked.

Of course this time around there are fundamental reasons why these companies are tanking, but nonetheless it showed a degree of froth that everyone assumed nothing could happen bad with these companies.

Imagine, Facebook gets destroyed simply by apple adding an automatic privacy setting to its iPhone and it fundamentally destroys Facebooks business model. Netflix eventually stops growing amid ever growing steaming competition, as if this could have never been foreseen. While Musk has done great things much of Tesla is almost meme stock in nature and as such Musks theatrics inevitably will bring it back down.

As usual in the tech sector, Kara has much of the detail. Thread

An ancient proverb says that in a lawsuit, the first to present his case seems right until another steps forward to question him.

In other words, get both sides of the story.

Twitter has been presenting one side of the story and now both sides will be heard.

    Thoughts?

Wish DeSantis would take a lesson here.

Liberals are like an abusive wife who calls the cops on her husband the first time he blocks a punch or ducks an ashtray. It truly is a mental disorder.

Wonder how committed to "the other side of the story" they will be if they want to keep operating in China or the EU

Yes, Except Twitter only suppressed Right wing views. Left wing views? Those were celebrated. It's ok to admit Twitter was massively biased to the left.

Does he though? Seems to me he talks a lot about things he's going to do then underdelivers (or never delivers at all), like most tech guys.

Matt Gaetz, Marjorie Taylor Green, Madison Cawthorn, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson ... all have Twitter accounts.
Does that count as 'the other side?'
