Along with the new assistant replacing Julie Plank, the 22-23 roster is posted. In addition to the losses of Floor, Brynn, and Kristina... Manu is no longer listed and both freshmen are showing. 2022-23 Women's Basketball Roster - Florida Gators
There is some serious talent on this roster. Zippy, Jordyn and Nina are very good and I think Alberte will join them at a high level. Hopefully the twins make a sophomore leap and we can add a true center and a power forward from the portal.
I'm not upset about any that left. Actually think the right moves are being made. A few names I'd watch out for, and I have no insider information but these are girls that have connection to UF or a coach in the past... PG Kateri Poole (JR) G Anaya Boyd (SR) W/F Koi Love (SR) F Janiah Barker (FR) UGA decommit and elite in state talent F Jillian Hollingshead (SO) There are other names and probably some JUCOs but would love to add 2-3 from this list.
Getting Zippy back was huge. She was their best player during most of the SEC season. Nice core of Zippy, Merritt and Rickards to build on.
I think Jeriah Warren will be a star for us too. She's a tall guard with scoring ability and a good overall game. In games I watched, she really played well coming in off the bench.
Chrissy Carr from Syracuse may be another name to watch. Really need about 3 more girls to pop soon. No 23's yet but hard to say what we need class wise until we know next year's roster.
Ok. I assume this alludes to a forthcoming commitment / signing as soon as tomorrow. Does anyone care to take a stab at who this may be?
Think it's just where the coaches are hitting the road. Julian has one too. We are however hitting a point where we need some commits SOON. No transfers or 23s of yet and no commitment since June of 21. Hopefully they start happening for us soon. We have 5 open slots that need filled.
Jillian Hollingshead and Latasha Lattimore were be great pickups to compliment Jordyn Merritt and Faith Dut. I would love to have those two.
Noticed Kelly and Jordyn are following Leilani Correa (G) from St. John's. Averaged over 17 points a game and All Conference player there. She would be a very nice addition to the roster. Was a Junior last year but with Covid I assume she has 2 years of eligibility. I think we need one more proven guard with the losses of Kiki and Lavender. I am sure she is being pursued by many but worth watching.
