Musk buys a big chunk of Twitter

The price of the stock was steadily dropping until Musk made his announcement.

Twitter’s earnings were going to be reported Thursday, the pace at which this deal was finished makes me wonder if they wanted to get this done before announcing earnings because the earnings report wasn't pretty

 

Wasn't this already happening on Twitter?

 

Twitter's stock was definitely dropping before Musk's announcement. This would have made Thursday really interesting.

Just imagine Twitter's earnings report coming out while Musk's offer was still out there. Musk would've gotten a discount. There's a reason this deal happened so fast and it's not because Twitter was in a strong position

 

The possibilities for Musk to make money with Twitter are endless.

What if he installs Twitter on every Tesla vehicle sold to give you "breaking news" or new tweets from people while you're driving?

All of those nice Tesla charging stations you see, they could come with monitors that stream Twitter while you charge your car.

He could make Twitter the default landing page for Starlink.

He could run Twitter from satellites above any government censorship i.e. Ukraine.

There are plenty of ways he can monetize Twitter and for people to think Musk doesn't already have a list of ideas where he could monetize Twitter is comical.

The guy owns a technology company, a space company and now a communications company. There are plenty of ways Twitter could work for Musk.

 

I liken it a lot to Bezos buying the Wahington Times. It's an information company. Musk may profit from it he may lose money on it, either way Musk's net worth will be higher at the end of the year than it was at the beginning.

 

It is not a pot shot, I just
could not remember how to spell intelligencia (and still cannot). Twitter is the go to medium for the opinion makers on The Left. It’s where the majority of members of the Brookings Institute, CAP, ACLU, and universities professors go to shares articles and discuss ideas.

Facebook is that medium for Conservatives.

 

Then why didn’t Musk just wait a few more days to buy it?

 

If Twitter was worth so much more why didn't they wait a few days and prove it to Musk????

Because it wasn't worth more than what Musk offered.

Musk gave his best and final offer. Have to think he knew that it was more than Twitter was worth. Musk nailed the Twitter board to the wall and it was over before he made the offer.

I guess rich people might be different, but if waiting a few days could save me a few billion dollars, I’d do it.

 

Sorry you got your panties in a bunch because I like just about any other rational person thinks Musk knows what's he's doing when it comes to running companies. Maybe he will be wrong on this one, but I doubt it. No need to be so sensitive. If you told me you are taking Tim Cook's idea for a new company over mine I wouldn't take it personally.

 

I'm looking forward to when Musk posts something super socially liberal and all his new fan boys freak out.

 

Right?

He's previously made spurious claims about Tesla that had him investigated by the SEC. He didn't care.
He poured all his money from PayPal into a Rocket company that was one more rocket failure from bankruptcy. He didn't care.
He had an SF government official curse him out on Twitter. His response was, "message received" and he moved Tesla's HQ to Texas.

I don't think Elon Musk has ever spent 2 seconds worried about what other people think.

The last time the Democrats got this upset over an African-American fighting for freedom, they founded the KKK.

 

I don't care what he says on his own platform as long as he honors his promise to let everyone else do the same, unlike the now deposed powers that were.

 

Once Musk takes control of Twitter maybe we will see a new account from @realValdimirPutin praising the Russian denazification of Ukraine.
