Republican SCOTUS will just stay the ruling, allowing the map to go into effect for the 2022 election.

Don’t think so. But maybe I have more faith in SCOTUS than you do.

If the Florida Supreme Court doesn't toss DeSantis's map, it'll show you exactly the difference between Democrats and Republicans.

    https://www.usnews.com/news/politic...oves-desantis-congressional-map-amid-protests

The Florida legislature approved a new congressional map submitted by the office of Gov. Ron DeSantis that is slated to give Republicans a significant advantage over Democrats in upcoming congressional elections and has been criticized for targeting Black representation in the state’s politics.

After about an hour of debate, Black lawmakers staged a sit-in Thursday on the House floor, revealing T-shirts with the phrase “Stop the Black Attack,” forcing an hour-long recess. Members returned to vote on the bill, passing it 68-38 amid continued protests.

Florida is gaining an additional district, rising to 28, due to a population gain on the federal census. At present, Republicans represent 16 of Florida’s 27 districts. The new map would likely afford Republicans four more seats.

“You all found a way to divide and carve a 50-50 state into a 20-to-8 partisan gerrymander – that’s what’s before us right now,” Democratic Rep. Andrew Learned said Thursday. “And you found a way to cut minority representation in half at the same time. The outcome speaks louder than your words. People should choose their representatives, not politicians choosing their voters. This flies in the face of the U.S. Constitution, the Florida Constitution and, more importantly, every democratic ideal that we hold dear.”

Another example of the difference between Democrats and Republicans, the judge in this case was a Clinton appointee.

All this to say you want segregation when it comes to voting... Yeah, I see that.

Invoking segregation to defend your racist governor stripping representation away from Black people is despicable, Rick. Go waste somebody else's time.

In what instance would drawing voting lines a certain way be wrong? Can you draw them however you want?

A state judge in Tallahassee struck down part of DeSantis's map for diluting Black Floridians' representation. Who appointed that state judge, you might ask? Ron DeSantis. That's how blatantly this map violates the Florida Constitution. Yet, I'm still not holding my breath on the Florida Supreme Court doing what's right and required by law.

Same issue as NY. The only difference is the Florida Supreme court hasn't ruled yet. Every one of the judges on the NY high court was appointed by a Democrat. its disingenuous for you to portray what Desantis did as any different than what is going on with both parties in our country

It's not remotely disingenuous. New York certainly engaged in partisan gerrymandering, but they didn't engage in racist gerrymandering. DeSantis engaged in racist gerrymandering. That's significantly worse. He intentionally targeted Black people and made it harder for them to elect representatives of their choice.

Are you proposing districts like Corrine Brown’s old district?

why can’t you use the 538 district drawing map that uses county borders.?

No, they could have easily maintained Black representation by drawing a fair map in Duval County. The Legislature's plan that DeSantis vetoed did that. Want DeSantis wanted to do was strip Black people of their representation in North Florida, and his map succeeded in doing that.

You'd need to show me the county borders map. But it might not comply with the Florida Constitution.
