We (Florida) do and for Disney (and all of Kissimmee/Orlando, it could get a lot worse. The big issue in PC Beach was people thought it would keep people from coming. Another 3 or 4% isn't going to stop anyone. I figured Key West and Monroe County would have one of the highest but they don't.

Nothing unintended about it. In 2018, Orange and Osceola counties voted overwhelming for Gillum for Governor. This scumbag knows exactly what he is doing and he is not losing anything by doing it. No one in those counties voted for him last time around.

    Please don’t use generalizations.

    I am not a liberal.

But I am outraged at the unconscionable, shameless abuse of power executed by our power-drunk governor, who has proven himself incapable of any exercise of restraint of the enormous power of his office. Imagine what this man will do with such power when it is increase 1000 fold with the office of the Presidency.

Sure. That’s why instead of debating, researching and fact finding the issues through the normal course of a legislative session, they pushed the initiative through the legislature in 1 week in an emergency session. Seriously, can you identify for me why this was such an emergency?

The article above says there would be zero revenue, but wouldn't all of that property now be subject to property tax?

To be honest it's a win-win regardless of any outcome in Court. If it's unconstitutional, the system did its job, and hopefully this would be enforced universally and the system would be better off for it.

If it is permissible, then it is Constitutional and DeSantis did not abuse his power. Even though government shouldn't do these things, that hasn't stopped Democrats for years, it's time Republicans fought back.

No but his point is simply this shouldn't be a left/right issue. And if anything you'd think "conservatives" and their "love" of the constitution would cause a serious issue with what DeSantis is doing.

I'm left leaning on some issues, libertarian on others, and conservative on a few. I voted for DeSantis. And am appaled at this

Passing unconstitutional laws isn't a "win-win" because the court system might strike them down. You literally said this less than 48 hours ago: "I hope we agree on one thing, the country would be much better off if the government would NOT take punitive measures against individuals or corporations for political speech they don't like." Now, it's a win-win?

You're misinterpreting what I said. It would be better if nobody did it.

A Court decision striking it down would hopefully be a step further in that direction, and it will show that the system did its job.

Upholding would prove that certain punitive measures are legally overlooked, and if one side is going to do it, the other side will as well. Maybe, then we'll all acknowledge there's a problem and everybody will stop pressuring corporations to be political tools.

I wasn't saying it is. The poster to whom I responded called out liberals explicitly in his post.

Unless Disney decides not to sue.

I guess I just don’t view this as punishment. I view this as a corporation getting special privileges. And they decided to jump into politics with something that misrepresented the facts of a policy that an entity was pursuing (this case the State of Florida). Therefore the State of Florida has decided to look at removing those privileges.

I don’t see the big deal.
