Would imagine that it would also be a short term double whammy for the people in Orange and Osceola counties. I am not sure how many people Disney employs in law enforcement/security, fire safety, water/sewage as well as other facilities and maintenance, but guess thousands go unemployed overnight.

You just made it personal. I know the law. I know the Constitution inside and out - in fact I have practiced constitutional law for decades. There has been no suppression of free speech. Disney can still spout whatever it wants. It simply is losing a preferred status from a legislative status. Why aren't liberals cheering that outcome? A huge corporation is going to have to operate like any other corporation. Where are your principles?

Doesn’t matter. Disney already received the benefits. The wisdom of giving them is a separate issue. They seemed d like a great idea when we wanted Disney to come here. But, now we have taken them away without compensation. And in retaliation for speech.

Then really the only thing they would be loosing is their more efficient way of getting projects done. It would be financially beneficial for them to loose the Reedy Creek deal but a kick in the nuts to the development process and schedules for new hotels and attractions.

Okay. You know the law in and out. Was Disney's vocal opposition of the Don't Say Gay Bill protected expression? Are Ron DeSantis and the Republicans in the Florida Legislature revoking a benefit to punish Disney for that protected expression?

Rights of Self governance granted as inducements. Substantial property rights under the doctrine of equitable estoppel. In retaliation for speech. So you have takings and a clear implication of Perry.

Over 150,000 people did vote for him here. And Osceola County is less blue than Orange.

    Come on Man!

The second post I made on this thread to a response from my first post on this thread…I say they misrepresented the bill. I have said that from the beginning.

Yes special privileges and being deceitful go together in this case.

    Don’t make stuff up…

DeSantis never said kids can’t wear masks. But he did protect them from being forced to engage in adult virtue signaling. Another topic for a different thread.

Counties in Florida can and many do. Rates are a lot different across the state but they can change it if they want (I'm from Panama City and the beach increased theirs a while back which was controversial with the locals).

I think only 4 or 5 counties in Florida don't have some kind of bed tax.

According to this we already have one of the highest in the state as it stands.

Of course, it's not in the bill verbatim. It's a distillation of a complicated issue to it's essence. And it rhymes! Much catchier than:

"Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards."

At any rate, it's not a misrepresentation, just a limited one. It's a slogan. You know, like "Lock Her Up!" and other chant classics.

Im sorry if I missed that you said that earlier. It’s a long thread, and I kind of jumped in after much digital ink had already been spilled. :emoji_pray:

I still believe that my question is valid. If we are allowed to punish private entities for misrepresenting legislation, who should get to make this determination of misrepresentation?

Remember "Death Panels?" Or the "Death tax?" I mean, if misrepresenting legislation is punishable ...

Strawman? Who claimed the fascist said they couldn't wear a mask? Are you claiming the 12 counties that ignored DeS no mask mandate decree, were not threatened with punitive action, ie the withholding of pay?

When even Trump lawyer Jenna Ellis is acting more principled than some of the "conservative" posters here, y'all really need to reevaluate your stances.
