You're barking up the wrong tree. I sue Democrats and Republicans alike when they violate people's rights. You can call yourself "libertarian-leaning" all you want, but when the rubber meets the road, you always bend over backwards to justify the things you claim to oppose. When do you start drawing the line somewhere?

doesn't even care that he just admitted that he was prosecuting companies for strictly political purposes. that should give us all pause. I am certain that he is smart enough to understand that is what he is doing and that he doesn't care if it is legal or not

He knows what DeSantis' supporters want to hear and is giving it to them. Who is going to win a court case against DeSantis in Florida? Or the 6-3 SCOTUS for that matter.

DeSantis has done a lot of losing in the courts of late, but those are federal courts. Republican SCOTUS really has no reason to care about him unless it advances their aims.

Repubs are more woke than anyone - worrying about these culture battles and cancelling and going after businesses because they said something that upset repub leaders.

Republicans may have thought they were sticking it to Disney, but they also stuck it to a Republican stronghold called “The Villages.”

“Florida has 1,844 special districts, of which 1,288 are, like Walt Disney World, “independent.” The Villages — where Governor DeSantis made his announcement about the review of Walt Disney World’s status — is “independent,” as are Orlando International Airport and the Daytona International Speedway.” Of course he only went after districts granted prior to 1968, so MAGAland will be protected……or will it?

I've already told you I'm on the fence about this decision.

The only possible justification for this is that Democrats have been doing things like this repeatedly for years to the point where it's become a pattern of behavior, which I believe they have.

The reason that justifies this is because the only thing worse than principles (not necessarily the law) of free markets, free enterprise, and free speech being violated... is one side clubbing all of the above repeatedly, then hiding behind them when the chickens come home to roost.

So if we're going to have one side doing this repeatedly, the best answer to fight it is mutually assured destruction.

Same thing with cancel culture. I'll vocally oppose cancel culture till I lose my breath, I'll even defend old school liberals like Bill Maher because he opposes it as well. I'll defend guys who vote Democrat like Joe Rogan. However, I will not defend members of the mob when they get cancelled, and frankly nobody should. That's Karma. They made their bed, now they should lie in it.

As fla governor, Desantis is weaponizing government over something as petty as what someone said. Just imagine if he becomes potus. When he can weaponize….. weapons. As vindictive as desantis is, if he becomes potus he will take us to war.

Desantis knows his followers. Just look at this twisted logic attempting to back into justifying desantis.

we all need to think for ourselves and not blindly follow a politician only because they are on “my team”.

We'll see if the courts even shoot this down. If it's legal, and Democrats have been doing this for years, ask Democrats to change. Maybe you won't get politicians like DeSantis.

A big thing Democrats seem to be completely lost on in how politicians like DeSantis and Trump got elected, is that they're perceived (whether right or wrong) as counterpunchers, as politicians who stand up to bullies.

If you try to understand (in good faith) the psychology of a Trumpian Republican, the Democratic Party will improve, and this wave of Republicanism will go away.

Interpret the voters in bad faith, however, suggest that they're all ignorant racist deplorables who get kicks from electing bullies... and you'll find more Republicans like these.

My favorite part of this is that it always starts from the assumption that is the most convenient for your point: that Democrats did it first. I mean you could frame the argument that Democrats were "counter-punching" in each of the moves that you oppose too (i.e., Republicans were bullying LGBT people, so the Democrats "counter-punched"). But that doesn't help your argument, where Republicans are always the victims first to justify literally anything that they do. And that is the process you are going through to talk yourself into supporting obvious political retribution for free speech.

You will continue doing this right into support for a dictatorship, always condemning others for making you do it.

LOL ... DeSantis is standing up bullies? Dude, you've really drunk the cool aid.

Disney stood up for their employees over DeSantis' bullying, and the result is DeSantis wants to bully more.

And republican bullies like Trump is the reason Biden won in a landslide. I guess Biden is a counter puncher that people love.

It's almost like we're in a culture war. :D The question is who struck first.

Disney stood up to DeSantis's bullying of their employees? What did DeSantis do to Disney employees?

Disney did, however, cower to bullies from within to become involved in issues it really has no business being involved in.
