Sure, it will apply to all state universities, but it will affect the #5 public university differently than it affects the whatever ranking FSU has.

    You never do!

BLING, your commentary is best when associated with something that you actually know something about.

Affiliates are independently owned. That station is owned by Cox Media Group, which is principally owned by Apollo Global Management. They simply buy content from Disney.

This is exactly the billshit that Disney is throwing out through their massive media capability.

    You should know better

No, they buy almost all of their non-local content from Disney. They are going to toe the company line. Just like every other Disney owned affiliate. It didn’t matter who owns the affiliate, they are the puppet while Disney is the Puppeteer and the voice.

You guys are going to ridiculous lengths to deny the obvious.

Strange that for all the claims that you are making, you are not providing an evidentiary basis for your claims that they don't pay property taxes.

Go look it up for yourself at non-Disney affiliated media sources. It’s all there.

Again, they aren't a Disney owned affiliate. So your comment about "other Disney owned affiliates" is non-sensical.

Affiliates are not beholden to the companies they buy content from in any way. Disney won't pull ABC content from that station specifically because nobody really wants to own local TV affiliates right now, but Disney wants its content in the Orlando market. If anything, Disney is beholden to Cox Media Group, not the other way around.

FSU is #19. UGa at #16 along with UF are the only SEC public universities that rank higher. State of Fl. has two of top 20 publics and DeS and his culture war is going to hurt higher education in Fl.

The CBS affiliate in Orlando work? The exact line is that they pay tremendous property taxes to both counties.

Q&A: DeSantis vs. Disney, what does it mean?

A business disaster for Disney is not necessarily for the state. If Disney loses 5-10% of their profit margin it is a disaster for them. Doesn’t necessarily become a disaster for the state. Just their shareholders and stock price. Nobody is thinking that Disney is going to close up shop for this. It’s just stupid for them to be pissing off half of the population with everything else going on for them. They have sunk billions into their park in China that is still waiting to finish construction, open, and give them the first dime in revenue.

The fact that an insight is obvious doesn’t make it unmeaningful.

Interesting that conservatives are celebrating the destruction of what fiscal conservatives would have considered a utopia (privatized building codes, infrastructure, planning, police, fire, etc).

No worries future tourists, I’m sure the services and bureaucracy provided by big Guv Desantis will be just dandy!
