I’ve learned not to underestimate the the ability of people to equivocate. Imagine if the scenario is five years after Russia has completed its conquest of Ukraine, and the issue is over the oppressed Russians living the Baltics. Would the idea of Russian peacekeepers be so bad? I mean, we kinda did, like, provoke this by bringing the Baltics into NATO. Couldn’t the Balts just move a little closer to the sea in the name of peace? The real threat is Global Warming and White Supremacy in any case.
It’s symbolic, but yes there’s a point if you understand the history of why the West and Soviet Union celebrated different VE Days.
